Tutu Tuesday in Beverley, Western Australia

G'day fellow dance enthusiasts! It's your girl, Chloe here, bringing you the latest on all things ballet and, of course, #tututuesday. Today, we're taking a trip down to Beverley, a little town with a big heart for the arts (and some serious style, might I add). This week, we're celebrating all things tulle and talking about tutu styles that are going to make your head spin (in a good way, of course!).

So, why is #tututuesday so popular? Well, it's more than just a hashtag. It's a celebration of the iconic symbol of ballet. The tutu, whether it's a romantic, billowing classical tutu, a sassy, contemporary design, or a whimsical, playful number, has the power to evoke a wide range of emotions. We're talking about grace, strength, artistry, and oh-so-much-fabulous!

As an Aussie ballet dancer, I've been blessed to wear all sorts of tutus – from the classic, romantic designs that swirl with every arabesque, to the sleek, modern pieces that express raw, contemporary energy. Each tutu holds a special place in my heart. I have a soft spot for the traditional, multi-layered, and dreamy tutus, perfect for a grand pas de deux, but honestly, you can't beat a chic and sophisticated modern tutu with its simplicity and boldness.

But let's get back to Beverley. I was lucky enough to visit Beverley Ballet Academy recently, and the dancers were seriously making me do a double take. Not only did their technique shine, but they were rocking some absolutely incredible tutus!

The youngest students, our tiny superstars in training, were rocking playful, frilly tutus that just screamed “fun and happy” – the perfect way to spark a love for dance. You'd be amazed at how much these little ones move in their tutus!

As we progressed through the different levels, we saw the styles transform. I was totally digging the sleek, streamlined tutus, perfect for displaying those clean lines and impressive leaps. These were so much more intricate than the younger ones – some even had hints of sparkle that made their pirouettes and grand jetés pop!

But my favorite? That’s got to be the senior group's contemporary tutus. They were so incredibly sophisticated and powerful – it was amazing to see the expression and passion poured into every single movement. The way they commanded the stage was something truly special. I'm so inspired by these dancers – it reminds me why I fell in love with ballet in the first place!

So, fellow dance enthusiasts, no matter where you are, rock a tutu on #tututuesday! Let's celebrate the beauty, grace, and artistry of this magical piece of costume, and inspire the next generation of ballet lovers.

And hey, if you're ever in Beverley, WA, swing by the Beverley Ballet Academy. It's truly an inspiring place – you might even spot me in the corner, doing some secret, sneaky barre work!

Keep those tutus twirling!

Stay fab,

Chloe
