Tutu Tuesday in Bakers Hill, Western Australia #tututuesday

G'day lovelies! It's your girl, Chloe, back with another instalment of Tutu Tuesday! This week I'm hitting the dusty plains of Bakers Hill, Western Australia, for a little ballet adventure. You wouldn't believe it, but this tiny town has a surprisingly vibrant dance scene. We're talking tutu twirling, grand jetés, and even a few cha-chas in the local hall! Let's just say, tutu time is a-comin'. This week, I'm focusing on the classic romantic tutu – think tulle layers, graceful lines and a whole lot of fairytale charm. This timeless style makes every pirouette a magical experience, and that’s precisely what Tutu Tuesday is all about, isn't it? So, grab a cuppa, put on your comfy shoes and settle in as we embark on a Tutu Tuesday adventure together!

My adventure begins with a stop at the iconic Bakers Hill Community Centre. It's a beautiful old building with an aura of warmth and history. This was the hub of dance in the town in the good old days and has recently been restored to it’s former glory. Walking inside, I’m greeted with friendly smiles, the sound of chatter, and the unmistakable scent of eucalyptus and dance. I'm immediately drawn to the warm glow of the stage, and my inner ballerina goes into overdrive!

Inside, I discover the local dance school, "Bakers Hill Ballet," a testament to the resilience and passion for the art form in these parts. The owner, Mrs. Jones, a former prima ballerina who danced professionally with the Australian Ballet back in the day, tells me with a twinkle in her eye about the transformative power of dance. She tells me how it brings people together, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose, and inspiring creativity in young and old alike.

After chatting with Mrs. Jones, I head out to the beautiful countryside for a dance amongst the eucalyptus and the wattle. Bakers Hill is known for its rolling hills and vast stretches of wildflowers. This landscape inspired my tutus today. My favorite style? The romantic, soft and whimsical tutu in a blush pink with cascading layers of tulle. This look was perfect for waltzing amongst the wattles and, for this girl, the perfect blend of country charm and fairytale magic. If the country town isn’t glamorous enough, the beautiful blush color brought out a very pretty contrast to the vibrant landscape.

My tutu ensemble? Well, I went for the classic and elegant, and added a splash of country style for this shoot. Think a soft, blush-toned romantic tutu, a matching crop top with intricate detailing, and elegant sandals. I wanted a look that would feel both feminine and a little edgy so, I pulled a vintage belt and threw it on for that bit of country sass, which you girls know I always love. And don't forget about those hair accessories, I always keep them handy for any Tutu Tuesday adventure.

As we wrap up my photo shoot, it feels like an ordinary day. Well, an extraordinary day in the extraordinary town of Bakers Hill! The community spirit, the passion for dance, and the stunning landscape have all contributed to a day that I’ll be fondly remembering for ages. You know what they say, “Tutu much?” Absolutely not. And it was great to show you how tutu can be taken anywhere and even worn by those who have no experience with dance! Here are some key takeaways:

  • It's okay to take a tutu outside the dance studio.
  • It's not about perfection.
  • If you don’t feel confident rocking a full tutut, try adding a little flair. Maybe just a tutu styled skirt, or even a top, can make any look more fun!
  • A splash of country flair will never go out of fashion and is especially beautiful for Western Australia!
  • Most of all, it's about having fun and expressing your love for ballet, no matter where you are!

Keep your tutus at the ready, and remember, Tutu Tuesdays are happening every week! Let's spread some ballet magic in Bakers Hill, and everywhere else! Until next time, stay sassy and keep on twirling!

Lots of love, Chloe, #tututuesday
