Tutu Tuesday in Cressy, Tasmania: A Tutu-tastic Time for Ballet Lovers

Hey, gorgeous dance lovers! It’s your girl, Ellie, back with another fabulously-flair filled blog post, and today it’s all about TUTUS. I mean, how could it not be on #TutuTuesday? 🎉 As you know, this special day in my world is dedicated to celebrating all things tulle, so I thought, why not take my love for tutus on the road and show you what tutu-tastic happenings can be found right here in my lovely home state of Tasmania. So let’s hop on the magic carpet (metaphorically speaking of course, since I live in the land of devils, not djinns!), and take a trip to the quaint town of Cressy in the heart of the island.

A tutu adventure in Cressy

Now, Cressy is known for its rich history and heritage -think picturesque stone buildings and charming antique shops. But today, we’re here for something a bit more modern - tutu fashion, and let me tell ya, Cressy didn't disappoint! From classic romantic tutus to those fabulously flamboyant and contemporary ones that make your inner diva sing, Cressy was a haven for tutu lovers.

  • I spotted some seriously gorgeous tutus at the “The Little Ballerina Shop”. These were not just any ol’ tutus; they were all about showcasing a modern flair.Think layers of chiffon with asymmetrical cuts and colour pops that were *chefs kiss*. Imagine ballet but with a grunge vibe? You've got the idea!
  • But hey, let's not forget the classics! Over at “Cressy's Attic”, a quirky little shop full of vintage treasures, I stumbled upon a stunning collection of traditional tutus - you know, the kind with those voluminous layers of tulle that make you feel like you're floating! ☁️ They were a real flashback to my early days at ballet school.

Of course, what’s a tutu exploration without a touch of local inspiration? The lovely owner of "Cressy's Attic" showed me some amazing locally handcrafted tutus. Now, let me tell you, this is the real deal! It’s so great to support Tasmanian craftspeople, and these tutus were just… incredible. One of my favourites was made using repurposed lace and silk, totally eco-chic. Plus, those intricate embroidery details just took it to another level! 😍

Cressy: A Hidden Gem for Tutu Enthusiasts

But you know what's really exciting? Cressy's vibrant arts and cultural scene. I couldn’t leave without taking a peek at the local arts hub. They were hosting a workshop for young aspiring ballerinas! And guess what? There were tutus galore. I actually got to lend my tutu know-how (that’s my dance teacher past coming in handy!), and show the budding ballet stars how to make those tulle layers move and twirl, like true ballerinas. The joy and excitement on their faces as they transformed their tutus into pieces of dance art, was absolutely infectious! 😍

The importance of ballet and #TutuTuesday

To me, #TutuTuesday is a celebration of creativity, confidence, and, most importantly, the pure joy of dance. Seeing those little ones light up in Cressy, filled with the magic of tutu twirling and the grace of ballet, reminded me just how special this art form truly is. It's about expressing yourself, it’s about pushing your limits, and it's about finding your inner artist - be it on a grand stage, in a tiny dance studio, or on a #TutuTuesday stroll down the main street of a quaint town!

So, my fellow tutu enthusiasts, if you ever find yourselves in beautiful Tasmania, don’t forget to check out Cressy - you might be surprised at the delightful tutu treasures you'll discover!

And remember, it's never too late to find your inner ballerina and get twirling in a tutu! 😊💃 #TutuTuesday #CressyTasmania
