Tutu Tuesday in Kalbar, Queensland: A Whirlwind of Romance and Romance #tututuesday

Hey there, dance lovers! Itā€™s your girl, Amelia, back with another installment of Tutu Tuesday!

Today I'm bringing the twirl to Kalbar, Queensland, a quaint little town with a big heart - much like my tutu collection! And let me tell you, there's a story behind every stitch of these delicate masterpieces, a whisper of ballet history that shimmers in every layer of tulle.

Now, I know what youā€™re thinking - ā€œBallet in Kalbar?!ā€ Yes! Trust me, there's something utterly magical about finding the spirit of ballet in the most unexpected places, especially here in Queensland where itā€™s scorching most of the year.

The sun was beating down but there we were, in a little town hall, with a gorgeous wooden floor. A couple of local dance schools, the Kalbar Performing Arts Academy (KPAC) were hosting their annual "Ballet Blitz" - a fabulous celebration of ballet featuring all styles of dance - from classical to contemporary.

My Top Picks

I had the chance to catch a few routines, and let me tell you, I was blown away. Youā€™ve got to check out these dance studios, the enthusiasm, the talent, and the absolutely beautiful tutus:

  • One young dancer, she looked barely seven, wearing a tiny little white **tutu**. It was classic but made modern with a sparkly ribbon. The sweet, youthful expression and energy of the dance almost made me tear up.
  • Another one, the main choreographer of KPAC, this amazing lady in a **pale pink pancake tutu** and she gave it to her with all this powerful elegance, totally killing it! The soft chiffon, it made the most beautiful swishy movements as she twirled across the floor. Absolutely loved it!
  • My favorite? Well, it was one of the oldest, a talented ballerina with so much grace, with a **long, layered, romantic tutu**. She moved like a whisper, a total dream to watch. The combination of the traditional and romantic designs - just sensational!

And what better way to commemorate these spectacular moments than with my own **Tutu Tuesday Kalbar Special?** You guys know the drill! A little photo of my fave **tutu**. Mine's actually an **ā€œAustrian Ballet Style tutuā€,** with the full length, classic layers but I styled it with an embroidered corset top. Just adding a modern twist!

The highlight of the day, though? Itā€™s not the beautiful performances (even though they were mind blowing) or even the tutus. It was a chance to connect, chat about dance, and share that same passion with other dancers. That sense of community was so much stronger in a town like Kalbar.

Hereā€™s the deal, the dance community, the passion in small towns is just something you have to witness, just like seeing that little seven year old, the dance veteran in her beautiful pink tutu, and the excitement on the faces of all the kids taking it all in. It reminded me why I started dancing - for that feeling, that sense of togetherness, and pure joy!

It's all about spreading that love, sharing the inspiration of dance, and finding that magical connection through a shared passion for all things ballet. It doesn't matter if youā€™re in a big city, like Brisbane, or a charming little town like Kalbar, those dance studios are shining beacons of creativity! And honestly, wouldnā€™t you rather wear a tutu in a lovely wooden floor like they do at KPAC rather than sweating your way through dance in the city during a heat wave?

I hope you all enjoy your #tututuesday with a sprinkle of Queensland sunshine! Be sure to check in with me for the next episode of Tutu Tuesday where weā€™re bringing the tutus to ... well, stay tuned!
