Tutu Tuesday in Tomerong, New South Wales #tututuesday Hey girlies! It's your favourite Aussie ballerina and fashion blogger, Amelia, back with another installment of my #tututuesday series! This week I decided to escape the city hustle and bustle and head to the quaint town of Tomerong in the picturesque New South Wales south coast. Tomerong is a place where time seems to slow down, the air is fresh, and the kangaroos are practically your neighbours. But let’s be honest, you’re here for the fashion, right? So, naturally, I had to embrace the spirit of #tututuesday with a truly spectacular ensemble. Now, I know what you’re thinking, tutus in Tomerong? Does this mean a ballet class out in the bush? Well, let’s just say, when it comes to tutus, the only limit is your imagination, or perhaps, the weather. 😉
Let’s Talk Tutus Firstly, I chose a *classic* *romantic tutu* for the occasion. It was made of layers upon layers of pale pink tulle that fluttered like a fairytale dream with every gust of wind. Think *whimsical and ethereal*, perfect for strolling through the gum trees. For those who aren't familiar with this style, romantic tutus, with their romantic flowing lines and layered fabric, often have a fitted bodice and a cascade of layers that start short and grow gradually longer. This creates an elegant silhouette, evoking the grace and fluidity of ballet itself. Secondly, for a more *contemporary* take on the *tutu look*, I paired my romantic tutu with a *black, leather jacket* – an edgy combo that totally worked in Tomerong's laid-back atmosphere. Trust me, a good leather jacket can elevate any tutu look, transforming it from "ballet class" to "weekend chic" in an instant. For the day look, I went for a casual yet fashionable outfit featuring a **denim skirt and my romantic tutu**, paired with **stylish knee-high boots** that were comfortable and totally on-trend. The denim and the leather worked together to create a contrast between the romantic and the edgy, keeping the look dynamic. You could call it "vintage chic" with a twist. The romantic tutu provided the sweetness and delicacy, while the denim and boots added the structure and cool vibe.
But The Day Was All About Dance, Of Course! While it’s true that fashion is my passion, the reason I’m even here, is, you guessed it, *ballet*! I spent the day dancing at a charming dance studio nestled amongst the trees, sharing my love of ballet with a bunch of gorgeous locals. I taught them some basic techniques, explored the joy of storytelling through movement, and we even experimented with choreography inspired by the nature that surrounds us. I have to say, it’s truly amazing how dancing can bridge the gap between generations and inspire individuals, no matter where they live, from the city to the heart of the Australian bush.
Ballet In Australia: What's Next From my experience in Tomerong, it’s clear that ballet in Australia is more vibrant than ever, reaching far beyond the urban centers. The passion for this art form is undeniable, no matter where you find yourself. If you’re in the Tomerong area, definitely check out the local dance studio. You never know what inspiring dance connections you might discover! I’m hoping to inspire my readers and followers to be bold, express themselves, and embrace their own unique style, whatever it may be. Remember, the key to rocking a #tututuesday look is to have fun with it. If you’re a fellow Aussie, where else in this beautiful country could you pull off a tutu look, let me know! See ya next time on #tututuesday, Amelia 💕
