Tutu Tuesday in Murrurundi, New South Wales #tututuesday Hey dance fam! It's your girl, Chloe here, coming to you live from Murrurundi, New South Wales. This charming little town in the Hunter Valley is truly a hidden gem, and while I’m here I can’t resist sharing my Tutu Tuesday adventures with you! As a professional ballet dancer, I've worn my fair share of tutus - from the classic romantic to the sassy, contemporary styles. They all hold a special place in my heart, each one reminding me of the amazing performances I've been part of. Today, I'm reminiscing about the timeless beauty of the classical tutu. There’s nothing quite like the graceful sweep of a **romantic tutu**, it’s like you're floating on a cloud of tulle. These beautiful skirts, usually made of multiple layers of soft, sheer tulle, create a voluminous, flowing look. For me, they truly embody the ethereal, dreamlike quality of ballet. While classic tutus definitely have their allure, let’s not forget about the contemporary tutus! The versatility and unique designs of these styles, are nothing short of incredible. From sleek **bodice-skimming numbers** with flowing lines to **sculptural, asymmetric designs**, they offer a fantastic canvas for expressing a myriad of emotions and movement. And while not quite as widely recognised as its classical counterpart, it holds an important place in the development of contemporary ballet in Australia. But my time here isn’t all about reliving old dance memories, I'm really keen to embrace the Aussie spirit and see what Murrurundi has to offer. And guess what? I discovered a local dance studio! Talk about a hidden gem. Imagine my delight! This studio oozes charm and has this kind of warm, inviting atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home. It’s run by a truly inspirational lady named Fiona who has a genuine passion for dance and a commitment to nurturing young talent in the local community. The students here were bursting with energy and passion, making me think about how many talented dancers I've had the privilege to meet and train with across my career in Australia. I had the pleasure of popping in and observing a few of the classes and I was completely blown away! These young dancers in Murrurundi were showcasing some serious skills and an incredible enthusiasm for learning, with Fiona inspiring them with a mix of technical instruction and an infectious enthusiasm for dance. This studio is a vibrant heart of this charming little town, a testament to the power of dance to unite, inspire and empower. It’s truly inspiring to see this passionate community of dancers flourish in the heart of Murrurundi. The town is incredibly vibrant and buzzing with life! While I'm enjoying all that this delightful town has to offer, I can't help but think about how ballet is evolving beyond the traditional venues in Australia and across the world. And it's not just about performing on grand stages – it’s about inspiring the next generation, and creating community through shared love of dance. Now, it wouldn’t be a true Tutu Tuesday without a touch of glamour, right? After the dance classes, I had the most delightful afternoon discovering a hidden treasure - a little antique store that holds so many stories within its dusty shelves. While hunting for a vintage souvenir for my dance studio, I found a beautiful vintage box of colourful feathers! Imagine the beautiful tutu designs I could create with those feathers - what a find! It feels like fate has given me this gift for a special future dance performance! To be honest, I’ve really had a fantastic time getting lost in the Murrurundi spirit – from the quirky boutiques, quaint coffee shops and charming local cafes. This little town reminds me of what I love most about ballet - a story unfolds beautifully in every single step. But as they say, all good things must come to an end. So until next time, keep on dancing, everyone, and remember to embrace your own Tutu Tuesday, wherever you may be. P.S Don't forget to share your Tutu Tuesday snaps with me!
