Sunbury, Victoria: #tututuesday is taking over!

G'day, fellow dance enthusiasts! It's your girl, Sarah, here, back with another blog post all about the wonderful world of ballet and, of course, the glorious #tututuesday! Today we're diving headfirst into the tutu scene right here in Sunbury, Victoria.

Now, you all know I'm a firm believer that a good tutu can elevate any outfit. But when it comes to Sunbury, let's face it – our tutu game is strong! And it’s not just about classic romantic tutus, either. We’re embracing everything from the delicate wisp of a Romantic tutu, perfect for graceful solos, to the dynamic power of a multi-layered, more contemporary style. There’s something for every taste and every occasion.

One thing I’ve noticed in Sunbury is how we're really pushing boundaries. It’s not just about the traditional ballet styles anymore. People are embracing new colours, interesting fabrics and unexpected embellishments, truly putting their own spin on things. The other day, I even spotted a stunning pair of bright blue, slightly layered, tulle tutus being used to bring some colour and dimension to a photo shoot for a local artist!

But, for all the fashion and artistic freedom, there's also a deeply ingrained passion for the traditional. Sunbury boasts a rich history of ballet, and you can truly feel the legacy in the dance community. Every Saturday, we have the cutest little classes in town where children are learning the basics, all decked out in their darling little tutus, each one cuter than the next. You’ve got to see the sparkle in their eyes as they're trying their first pirouettes. It’s simply heartwarming.

Here are just a few places in Sunbury to check out the #tututuesday action:

  • The Sunbury Dance Academy: This place is legendary! It’s like a little ballet hub for everyone from kids to adults. The tutus here are gorgeous, from classic to modern, with styles to suit all. They even have a small shop where you can pick up your own tutu to join the fun!
  • The Sunbury Library: Maybe not your typical tutu-spot, but believe it or not, the Sunbury Library actually has an entire collection dedicated to ballet history and costumes! You'll find a diverse range of tutus represented there, even a couple from early 20th century performances!
  • Sunbury’s Park: For those of you who like to mix your tutu with the great outdoors, take a stroll around Sunbury’s park and you’re sure to spot some dancers practicing their routines. Many wear beautiful ballet dresses with a distinct Tutu flavour, perfect for graceful outdoor rehearsals. It's definitely worth taking a little time to stop and admire them in action.

As a passionate dancer, I just love that there’s a genuine, open love for all things ballet here in Sunbury. And it's not just confined to dancers! We’ve got tutu-themed coffee mugs at cafes, tutu-inspired artwork at galleries, and even local bakeries are offering #tututuesday themed cupcakes. It's contagious! The vibe is infectious!

So, whether you're a seasoned ballerina, a curious newcomer, or just someone who loves a touch of whimsy in your life, make sure you tag #tututuesday and check out the fantastic tutu action happening in Sunbury!

And don't forget, my lovelies, the key is to embrace your individual style and never be afraid to stand out! #tututuesday is all about celebrating the art and artistry of dance, and you’re welcome to participate in whatever way you see fit.
