Tutu Tuesday in Mildura, Victoria: Where Dance Meets Fashion

Hey lovelies, itā€™s your favourite ballerina and fashion blogger, Sasha, coming at you live from the sunny streets of Mildura, Victoria! Now, if youā€™ve been following me for a while, you know that Tuesday means only one thing: **#tututuesday!** Itā€™s the day I take my favourite tutus out for a spin, showing you all how these pieces of ballet history can be incorporated into everyday style, and today Iā€™m embracing the summer vibes and all things Australian.

And boy, have I got some outfits for you! I kicked off the morning with a classic, a **romantic pink tulle tutu**, the perfect way to add a touch of grace and whimsy to a casual summer look. I paired it with a crisp white tee and some classic denim shorts ā€“ the classic ā€œdance casual" combination - and topped it off with a straw boater hat and my go-to espadrilles for a cute, country chic vibe. You can never go wrong with a pink tutu for a ā€œbarbiecoreā€ look and if you're looking to keep your look minimal, just add some ballet flats, sneakers or even Birkenstocks - whatever takes your fancy.

Later, I decided to bring things up a notch with a **sparkly, multicoloured tutu**, and some more bold colours, to be "extra"! I love tutus with intricate patterns because they have so much movement and are visually eye catching, like my **blue and red checkered tulle tutu**, perfect for adding a touch of vintage and theatricality to your outfit! The tulle itself can look quite grand so for a daytime look, youā€™ll want to make sure itā€™s the key element and balance the volume out with a streamlined outfit: I opted for a white, cotton button-up shirt tucked in and some black high waisted denim - keeping it as elegant and sharp as possible.

So, if you're in Mildura and see a ballerina rocking a tutu in the sunshine, donā€™t be shy ā€“ say hello! You never know, you might just catch the dance bug yourself. Or, maybe youā€™ll just end up looking fab in some vintage, romantic tutus!

Speaking of ballet in Australia, you all know our ballet scene is absolutely thriving. We've got fantastic ballet companies in every major city from Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and even Adelaide, who are putting on spectacular shows that deserve to be celebrated.

However, Mildura is still very much ā€œoff the gridā€ as far as big, city ballet schools go. But, if you live in Mildura, itā€™s more than possible to take ballet classes, which have amazing benefits not just physically but for your confidence too, whether it's adult beginner classes or kids classes at your local dance studios you can find amazing options here. Or, even pop down to one of our schools or local community centres and learn a new choreographed routine!

Now that you know itā€™s more than possible to be a ā€œballet girlā€ without living in a major capital city, how about some practical tutu tips?! No one wants to have their skirt all up their nose while attempting to walk around town!

So, here are a few style tips to help you make those tutus work:

  • Choose the right length and style of tutu to suit your personal style.
  • Pair it with basic pieces you can easily transition into evening outfits!
  • Accessorize with a few fun and trendy items to add personality to your look. And definitely a bag! This is probably the toughest element to style when rocking a tutu - think about matching your tutu's color palette with your purse, like black and white or even a black leather crossbody for that ā€œrock chic" vibe.
  • Last but not least: Confidence is key! Rock your tutu with style and donā€™t be afraid to be creative!

I hope this #tututuesday post has inspired you to rock your own ballet-inspired look and show off that stylish Aussie side of yourself!
