Tutu Tuesday in Goulburn, New South Wales: A Tutu-tastic Celebration of Ballet

Hey gorgeous dancers and tutu enthusiasts! It’s your girl, [Name of blogger], here, ready to share my Tutu Tuesday adventures. Today, we’re taking it back to my hometown, Goulburn, NSW. Let’s get into it, because, as the fabulous Beyoncé said, "Who run the world? Girls!"

And in this instance, we’re celebrating girl power and, well, tutu power with #Tutuesday in Goulburn! So, what's all this tutu fun about, you ask? Tutu Tuesday, in essence, is about acknowledging that tutus are not just for the stage, they’re for everyday life, or at least for every Tuesday! They are fabulous, fierce, and fun! And we, in Goulburn, love us a tutu-tastic day.

Now, Goulburn may not be Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane (no offence, those beautiful cities), but don’t get it twisted! This country town has its fair share of dance talent and, dare I say, sartorial elegance. From classical tutus, elegant pancake tutus, whimsical romantic tutus and contemporary designs, the tutu scene in Goulburn is alive and kicking. A few weeks ago, when the weather in Goulburn was hotter than a shrimp on the barbie, we even saw some bold, daring ladies rock a tutu while BBQing - now that's true Aussie style!

Let’s chat tutu styles

One of the most iconic tutus is the classical tutu - think airy tulle, multiple layers, and that dreamy, romantic silhouette that just embodies ballet's ethereal spirit. And then there's the pancake tutu, with its single, fitted layer of tulle and often worn with a contrasting bodice, giving a more contemporary and streamlined look, but with all that fabulous tulle volume! And for those with a touch of drama, there’s the romantic tutu, flowing layers that can add an exquisite layer of whimsicalness, often accompanied by those sweet little ribbons, like a ballerina-gone-vintage.

And, if you’re really feeling like a tutu rebel, contemporary styles are all the rage, using modern materials and unconventional designs. Now, these can sometimes have minimal tulle, going more for sleek, edgy, and downright powerful statements. Some of my personal favs are those minimalist designs with asymmetrical cuts, or maybe even a touch of bold color or embellishments, pushing those creative boundaries. Don't forget those little details like a stunning ribbon or some fancy fabric, those can be game changers.

More Than Just A Tutu Tuesday!

It's important to say that tutu love extends far beyond Goulburn's beautiful countryside. In our little corner of the world, ballet is a treasured tradition. You’ll see it in the way children twinkle their toes in our local ballet schools, the way older folks still reminiscence about past productions and of course, the dedicated and passionate ballerinas in the area giving us their everything every day. The vibrant heart of ballet in Goulburn is contagious!

For a town of Goulburn’s size, its contribution to Australian ballet is massive! A couple of our own have gone on to perform in big companies across the country, and, while many more stay local, they carry their passion with them. Whether on the stage or in their daily lives, these incredible women are ambassadors of the spirit of Tutu Tuesday – a testament to how the magic of dance is always with us. #TutuTuesday indeed! #Goulburn #NSW
