Tutu Tuesday in Wangaratta, Victoria: A Tutu Tale for the Ages!

Hey, dance lovers! It's your girl, Elle, back with another post from the land down under. As you all know, #Tutuesday is my absolute favourite day of the week – the day I get to unleash my inner ballerina and flaunt some of the most fabulous tulle around. And this week, we're taking things to Wangaratta, Victoria, a charming little city with a vibrant arts scene. Let's get this #tututuesday party started!

So, today's Tutu Tuesday theme is "Vintage Chic" – a nod to the timeless elegance of ballet costumes from a bygone era. Picture soft, billowing layers of tulle in shades of blush pink, champagne gold, and vintage white, meticulously hand-stitched with intricate embroidery. You know, the kind of tutus that make you think of old-timey ballerinas in elegant theatres with gaslight chandeliers. That's the kind of magic we're chasing today.

For this week's ensemble, I've chosen a stunning Romantic tutu, with its romantic silhouette and sweeping layers of ethereal tulle. It's perfect for twirling and pirouetting with a whimsical grace that I can't help but adore! The romantic tutu is a ballet classic, and its beauty lies in its simplicity, its focus on highlighting the ballerina's fluid movement, which, frankly, it absolutely does!

And to elevate the vintage vibes, I'm pairing it with a custom-designed, long-sleeved, white silk bodice – all the way from a local Wangaratta dressmaker. I mean, it was too hard to pass up, you know, it was literally a perfect blend of elegant sophistication and artistic freedom. A definite match made in tutu heaven!

To really make the ensemble sing, I'm finishing it off with some shimmering hair combs – because, girl, what’s vintage chic without a touch of glitz?! Let's talk about the headpiece – you simply have to be ready to make heads turn, and I really have to hand it to myself, my skills at creating a truly magnificent headpiece – the perfect crowning glory, or should I say "hair-ing glory?"

This look is all about that timeless elegance – it's something that could’ve been worn on a grand Parisian stage in the late 19th century, and yet, it still feels totally modern and stylish today. Talk about fashion coming full circle.

Here are a few tips for creating your own Vintage Chic #Tutuesday ensemble, wherever you may be:

  • Go for pastel shades. Pink, blue, cream – the soft and delicate tones are ideal for creating that "timeless" look.
  • Incorporate vintage-inspired elements. Whether it’s lace trim, pearl buttons, or hand-painted details, little details can elevate your tutu look in the most elegant ways.
  • Consider a bodice that's not overly-decorated. This will make the tutu truly pop and enhance the focus on graceful lines and flow.
  • Add a touch of shimmer. Pearls, sequins, rhinestones – use them sparingly and thoughtfully for a refined look that radiates vintage charm.
  • Don’t forget about your hair and makeup. Go for a softer, more romantic look that accentuates your natural beauty.

And remember, it’s all about having fun and expressing your unique style! #tututuesday is a celebration of self-expression, embracing our individuality, and being inspired by the beautiful world of ballet. It’s more than just a trend, it's a moment, a vibe!

So go on, embrace your inner ballerina, get creative, and put on that fabulous tutu – no matter where you are in the world. Because when it comes to fashion, there’s absolutely no room for holding back.

Until next Tuesday, remember: dance your heart out and always stay stylish!

Elle xoxo
