Tutu Tuesday in Cooma, New South Wales #tututuesday Hey lovelies, it’s your girl, Amelia, bringing you the latest on the Australian ballet scene, with a sprinkle of fashion flair! This week I'm whisking you away from the hustle and bustle of the big smoke to the charming town of Cooma in New South Wales. Known for its rugged beauty and warm hospitality, Cooma is a surprising haven for ballet lovers like myself. Yes, you heard me right! Cooma, tucked away in the Snowy Mountains, has a thriving dance community, a bunch of keen young ballet dancers, and even its own little dance academy! And what's a dancer to do in such a picturesque town, you might ask? Well, you embrace the day, put on your fanciest tutus (even if you haven’t quite perfected that pirouette just yet), and celebrate Tutu Tuesday of course! Speaking of tutus, I can't even begin to describe how thrilled I was when I saw the gorgeous array of styles at the Cooma Ballet Academy. There were classic romantic tutus with yards of billowing tulle and delicately beaded bodices – a vision of fairy-tale loveliness. But also some sleek, modern tutus in bold, bright colors. It was a veritable ballet lover’s paradise, you could just about smell the history of the ballet world wafting around you. As I took in the amazing tutus on display at the academy, I couldn’t help but ponder on just why they've been the chosen garment for ballet dancers for centuries. Perhaps it's because of the dramatic swirling, voluminous skirt that creates a mesmerizing visual effect on stage – reminding you that ballerinas are quite literally 'floating’ across the stage! Or, maybe it's because of the timeless elegance that a tutu holds – whether it’s a classical romantic or modern design. You can dress it up or down, but there’s no denying, it’s undeniably beautiful. So here's a list of the reasons why you NEED to embrace your inner Tutu Queen on this, and every #tututuesday: * It's the ultimate way to express your love for the beautiful art of ballet - whether you're a professional, aspiring, or just an avid supporter, a Tutu says ‘I love ballet.’ * It's a fun way to make a fashion statement, and who doesn't love to feel a little bit glamorous? * It's an amazing conversation starter - when you rock up at the studio or ballet class with your Tutu, prepare for compliments! * It’s the perfect way to support a local dance school - Cooma Ballet Academy was certainly excited about my Tutu Day! * And lastly, it's a great way to spread some joy – let's face it, everyone’s happy to see a ballerina dancing in a Tutu! If you're in Cooma this week, swing by the Cooma Ballet Academy – it's absolutely delightful! It’s easy to find and they are so welcoming, and don’t forget to join in the #Tututuesday fun. If you don’t happen to be in the region, maybe start a trend in your community or even just whip out a little twirl at home! Don’t forget to share your photos on Instagram, hashtag #Tututuesday – who knows, your photo might even appear in next week’s blog! But for now, let’s get dancing! Happy #Tututuesday, lovelies!
