Tutu Tuesday in Wingham, New South Wales: A Whirlwind of Tutus and #tututuesday Fun!

G’day, fellow tutu enthusiasts! It’s your girl, Ava, here, back with another installment of Tutu Tuesday! This week, I’m hitting the streets of Wingham, New South Wales, to share all the #tututuesday fun with you.

Wingham is a charming little town in the heart of New South Wales. Known for its beautiful countryside and friendly people, Wingham also boasts a lively community of ballet lovers, which means this #tututuesday is gonna be a real corker!

First stop, I hit up the local Wingham Ballet Academy. Now, the Academy's not your big-city, city-slicker ballet school - it's got a heartwarming old-fashioned feel. I spent a bit of time with the lovely Miss Margaret, who runs the place, chatting about the history of ballet in Wingham. She showed me photos of her dancers in all sorts of beautiful tutus! We talked about the evolution of the tutu, from the early days of Romantic ballets to today’s more contemporary styles.

Let’s be real - the tutu has always been more than just a garment, it's an icon of artistry, grace, and freedom. There's something truly magical about seeing a ballerina spinning across the stage in a full-length tutu! It makes you feel like anything is possible. And the way a tutu billows and flows with each movement is a sight to behold, especially with the fluffy tutus they still have at the Wingham Ballet Academy! They really make a ballerina feel like a fairy!

I was blown away by the academy's collection of tutus! They have everything from classic Romantic tutus, with their delicate layers of tulle, to more modern styles. Some of the tutus were pretty much brand new and some were genuine vintage tutus. You could really feel the history in the older ones. Some even had the names of past ballerinas written inside!

To my absolute delight, I spotted a few ballerinas practising in their sparkly, rainbow tutus, and they let me take a few pics of them in action! Let me tell you, they moved with such poise and control – truly inspirational. They didn't have any qualms about showing me how to properly take a "pirouette" which, as you know, I absolutely love to do! I mean, who wouldn’t? What is Tutu Tuesday all about if it doesn’t involve a bit of ballet?

In addition to the academy, we stopped by Wingham’s famous costume shop. It was filled with fabulous stuff for theatre productions – and guess what? We found some beautifully designed, full-length tutus! I even had a chance to try one on for size - and lemme tell ya, it felt magical! Even though my tutu-wearing days have been confined to the ballet studio for a while, the feel of tulle and the classic ballerina look still brings out the inner dancing girl! So yeah, I totally bought it – I couldn’t resist. Who says it's just for the professionals? I'm sure it will spark some joy and make my #tututuesday extra special.

Overall, my #tututuesday adventure in Wingham was a total success. I love how this little town celebrates the art of ballet and makes the tutu a celebrated symbol of the community. If you ever find yourself in Wingham, be sure to check out the academy, the costume shop and let's not forget all the cute and funky stores that I just know you’ll find awesome tutus in! From classic to contemporary styles – the possibilities are endless! And for sure, grab yourself a slice of pie at The Little Pie Shoppe and have a coffee or two (or three) at one of Wingham’s quaint little cafes.

That's all from me for today, fellow tutu lovers! Thanks for joining me for this fabulous #tututuesday adventure. Remember to check back next week for more tutu-tastic adventures, because you know what they say... life is better in a tutu!
