Tutu Tuesday in Worragee, New South Wales! #tututuesday
G'day lovelies! It's Tutu Tuesday in Worragee, New South Wales and I'm feeling a bit extra. I just adore this annual event that makes us tutu-tastic and fabulous, a bit like the Melbourne Cup, but in ballet form. It’s about showing off the latest tutu trends in our local community. The streets are filled with sequins, tutus, and happy dancers, ready to twirl and celebrate all things ballet.
Now, this is not your regular Tutu Tuesday in Melbourne, with their romantic and sophisticated style. In Worragee, we go for a fun and playful vibe. The perfect tutu for a Worragee gal, is all about colour and a whole lot of pizazz.
It’s been a whole month of #tututuesday celebrations, kicking off with the launch of ‘The Tutu Ball’ a glamorous night of ballroom dancing with the Worragee Dance Academy. Then there was ‘Tutu Market’ at the Community Centre, with handmade tutus and tutus to inspire any beginner ballerinas. It was a festival of all things tutu.
Of course, no Worragee Tutu Tuesday is complete without the ‘Tutu Parade.’ It's a joyous spectacle of tutus galore. I was out there with my mates, wearing a vibrant, neon pink, layered tutu. I went for the ‘Tutus of Courage’ look, a symbol of support for our local Women’s Shelter. My friend, Emma, opted for the ‘Romantic Tutu’. Her soft, white, layered tutu was a classic beauty, with beautiful lace detail. There was the iconic ‘Classic Tutu’, featuring a traditional single-tiered skirt, for those who appreciate ballet heritage, as well as ‘Funky Tutut’ in vibrant patterns and bold fabrics for the contemporary and modern dancer. There was one tutu that just stole the show. It was this shimmering purple, tiered tutu with sequin details, just stunning. So many beautiful creations for Tutu Tuesday this year, and lots of inspirational looks to try in the studio.
I'm also super excited to see the tutus at the upcoming ‘Worragee Ballet Festival.’ We are expected to see hundreds of local ballerinas and dancers of all levels and ages taking to the stage to display their talents and express their creativity. This year will also be our annual 'Tutu Challenge', a fun and lighthearted competition for local talents where they showcase their own designed tutus.
If you’re a ballerina or dancer like me, or just appreciate all things fabulous, make sure you visit Worragee on the first Tuesday of each month. You’ll feel right at home. Now, off I go to another event: a special screening of "Black Swan," one of my fave movies about ballet. Gotta get my dose of inspiring ballet on this great Tutu Tuesday in Worragee, New South Wales!
