Korumburra, a charming little town nestled in the heart of Gippsland, Victoria, has called out to me. This week I’m here on a little Aussie adventure! It's all about exploring the countryside, indulging in local delights, and of course, embracing my inner ballerina - tutu and all!
From Pavlova to the Perfect Tutu So, I know what you're thinking, 'Chloe, what on earth could possibly be happening in a country town? Surely, there’s no tutu inspiration out here!' But trust me, lovelies! I'm not the only one who understands the power of a tutu! I even stumbled upon a quaint little ballet studio called The Dance Emporium. Their owners, a sweet older couple with a shared passion for the art, were simply delighted to have me in! I actually spent an hour getting to know them, picking their brains, about the state of ballet in regional Australia. You know what they said? This area is brimming with talent! They've been nurturing local ballerinas of all ages - so inspiring! While there, they gifted me the most stunning pale pink tutu! The classic four-layer tulle with a dainty satin ribbon - absolute perfection. Honestly, you can never go wrong with a classic!
Tutu Trends Down Under For those of you unfamiliar with the world of tutus, you need to know it’s all about embracing different styles. Whether you’re channeling your inner swan with a traditional white romantic tutu, or rocking a daring, sassy black contemporary tutu - the options are endless! The world of ballet is about versatility, and so is our love for tutus! Today in Korumburra, I decided to experiment with something a bit more bold and modern. A black layered tutu with a unique, asymmetric cut and a touch of metallic fabric around the waistband. This baby is absolutely screaming “street-chic” ballerina! Imagine twirling through the fields of Victoria! Who needs the Opera House, am I right?! I'm also loving how tutus are embracing inclusivity! Forget restrictive silhouettes - we're all about tutus that hug our bodies and let us dance freely, regardless of our shape or size. It's time for a bit of a wardrobe revamp - a revolution, perhaps?!
#Tututuesday on Tour Honestly, every time I put on a tutu, it's like a little dose of magic. It transforms my whole mood! And today, it’s transforming my entire view of Australia. It's made exploring Korumburra feel extra special! Today's outfit? Well, let’s just say it was a blend of Parisian elegance meets Outback chic. My tutu was paired with a comfy oversized, striped linen shirt, brown ankle boots, and of course, some big, statement earrings - channeling those elegant Melbourne vibes. It's all about feeling comfortable and confident, lovelies! Let’s just say it wouldn't be a #tututuesday post without a photo op in front of some iconic landmarks, right? My friends and I made a trip to the Korumburra’s famous Giant Koala! What’s more Australian than a koala dressed in a tutu? The locals were so friendly. We had a little impromptu dance-off in front of it - absolutely hilarious! We felt like a little ballet troupe visiting from the big city! I even caught a glimpse of myself in the reflection of the Koala’s glassy eyes, and let me tell you, I was a sight for sore eyes!
Sharing My Passion Speaking of spreading the love, this little trip has made me realize how important it is to bring the magic of ballet to everyone, no matter where they live! I'm feeling inspired to plan some dance workshops in Korumburra soon! You might find me leading a few adorable little ones in some beginner ballet classes! Or, maybe I’ll even run a tut-orial with some local ladies! My friends were convinced that the Korumburra bakery would make an ideal venue for a "tutu and tarts" afternoon tea! We might just turn that into reality! Who says that the world of ballet belongs only in big cities, right?! It's all about spreading the joy!
