Tutu Tuesday in Cockatoo, Victoria: A Tutu-tastic Time

G'day, fellow ballet enthusiasts and fashionistas! It's your girl, Ava, here, straight from the cobbled streets of Cockatoo, Victoria, where Tutu Tuesday has officially landed. You know, when I started this blog, I never thought I'd be rocking a tutu in the wilds of rural Victoria – and let me tell you, it's absolutely delightful. And I can confidently say it's a vibe. Today is all about tutus and embracing the beautiful, quirky, and utterly expressive world of ballet – and I am living for it!

This tiny town is nestled in the Yarra Ranges, a stone's throw from the city, yet a world away in terms of pace. It's the perfect setting to break out the tulle and dance the day away. I mean, wouldn't you love to spin in a cloud of tulle amongst gum trees and the chirping of kookaburras? It's a dream come true for a ballet dancer like myself.

First things first, let's talk tutus! As a ballet dancer, I have a soft spot for the classic, romantic **Romantic tutu**. This delicate confection is usually crafted from multiple layers of tulle, resulting in a beautiful cloud of netting, perfectly encapsulating the romantic spirit of classical ballet. But the beauty of tutu style is that there's a tutu out there for everyone, whether you prefer the whimsical flair of a **Bell tutu** or the contemporary edge of a **Costume tutu** designed by modern choreographers.

Now, my outfit for Tutu Tuesday is definitely giving off classic romantic tutu vibes, because, hey, a girl's gotta stick to her roots. I'm rocking a vibrant crimson Romantic tutu paired with a sleek black leotard for a dash of contrast. To elevate this simple combo, I've added a crystal-encrusted belt for some serious sparkle and a touch of whimsy. For footwear, I'm rocking some stunning scarlet pointe shoes for that unmistakable ballet aesthetic.

And let's talk hair, shall we? My trusty bun is always my go-to for a dance class, but today, I've added a touch of glamour with a silver-studded headband that catches the light like a million tiny stars. And to complete the look, a touch of bright pink lipstick - it's a vibrant pop of color against the tulle.

This look, with a light layer of foundation and a dusting of shimmery highlighter, is absolutely effortless and timeless. Plus, let's be real - any look is instantly elevated with a good ol' tutu. And if you need inspiration, there's a tonne of incredible Australian ballerinas whose dance and fashion are absolutely iconic. They’ve totally embraced the Tutu Tuesday vibes and have inspired me to get into this! Think about our own Margot Fonteyn or even the breathtakingly talented dancers from the Australian Ballet!

But I am not alone in my Tutu Tuesday adventure! I’ve gathered my local crew from the community dance school in Cockatoo, and let me tell you, this is where the true joy of tutu day shines through! We are doing our bit for the community here! Today, we’re gathering in the heart of town for a performance at the community centre, with a little tutu workshop to help everyone experience the magic of ballet and tutus! The highlight will be the parade through the centre of Cockatoo - imagine tutus twirling with every skip!

Our workshop includes everything from how to style a tutu to a brief glimpse of the basics of ballet. Think, barre exercises, grand jeté, arabesque...and more, of course! But, I promise, no previous experience needed! I want everyone to enjoy a fun introduction to the world of ballet with tutus galore! Because you never know, someone may discover their love for dance right here today in Cockatoo!

So, if you’re looking to step outside your comfort zone and experience something different this week, then grab your tutu and come join us in Cockatoo, Victoria. Let's spread some tutu joy and maybe inspire the next generation of ballerinas. Remember to share your tutu adventures with #tututuesday on your social media, because, honestly, this is just the beginning of my tututastic journey, and I am so ready to share the love.
