Tutu Tuesday in Penguin, Tasmania #tututuesday

G’day fellow ballet lovers! It's your girl, Chloe, back with another edition of my beloved Tutu Tuesday blog. This week, I'm taking you on a journey to the charming coastal town of Penguin, Tasmania, where I stumbled upon a hidden gem: The Penguin Ballet Academy.

Now, you might be thinking, "Penguin? Ballet? Seriously?" But trust me, this place is a total surprise. As soon as I stepped inside the studio, I was transported to a world of pirouettes, grand jetés, and the most fabulous tutus I’ve seen outside of the Australian Ballet Company in Melbourne.

First things first, let’s talk tutus. Penguin Ballet Academy has a killer collection that would make even the most discerning ballerina swoon. We're talking romantic, layered tulle tutus, perfectly crafted with delicate floral appliques for the budding ballerinas, and then the striking, minimalist tutus in classic black for the more experienced dancers – a real nod to the timeless elegance of a Balanchine piece, wouldn’t you agree?

The studio itself was buzzing with energy, and it wasn’t just from the young dancers perfecting their arabesques. There was a real sense of community here, with teachers, parents, and students all genuinely passionate about the art form. This energy is what truly defines ballet in Australia - the passion for the craft, the shared joy in achieving a new skill, the undeniable charm of it all.

And honestly, it wasn't just the tutus that caught my eye. The instructors, all incredibly talented and experienced, exuded such warmth and encouragement. There's something special about ballet schools that embrace both technique and love, which really stood out at the Penguin Ballet Academy. They are instilling a love for ballet in a new generation of Tasmanian dancers.

To my surprise, I wasn't the only one celebrating Tutu Tuesday. They had a whole special event happening! There were workshops focused on different tutu styles, like the "Romantic Tutus" workshop, where young dancers learned all about the classic Romantic ballet era, and "The Story of the Tutu" class, which covered the evolution of the iconic garment. So cool, right?!

And you know I couldn't resist trying a few twirls myself! I even managed to snag a shot with a sweet little dancer in her gorgeous pastel-hued tutu, the ultimate #TutuTuesday picture! It’s amazing how even a simple, delicate garment like a tutu can evoke such joy and artistry.

Let me tell you, after my trip to Penguin, I’m ready to revamp my own tutu collection – classic white tulle, absolutely, but maybe some of those chic black tutus I saw? My ballet bag will be overflowing, and my Instagram feed will be filled with gorgeous Tutu Tuesday posts, showcasing some of the incredible styles from Penguin Ballet Academy.

And I encourage all you fellow ballet fanatics out there to celebrate Tutu Tuesday wherever you are! It’s a chance to share your love for the art of ballet, showcase the beautiful tutus that make the world go round, and most importantly, remember the pure joy of dance. Happy Tutu Tuesday!
