Tutu Tuesday in Yunderup, Western Australia: A Whirlwind of Tutus and Aussie Charm G’day, tutu-loving friends! It’s your girl, Amelia, here, back with another installment of #tututuesday! Today, I’m taking my twirling adventures to the charming town of Yunderup, nestled amidst the rolling hills and sparkling waters of Western Australia. As you know, I’m all about embracing the whimsical, and what’s more whimsical than a tutu? It’s like a cloud you can wear – but instead of rain, it sprinkles magic and joy wherever you go! So, with my tutu in tow, I decided to bring the Tutu Tuesday magic to this delightful corner of WA. We started the day off at the local cafe, Yunderup Coffee Co. Picture this: sunshine streaming through the window, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee in the air, and me, resplendent in a pale pink tulle tutu, sipping a flat white. It was like something out of a fairytale, but with less talking animals and more latte art. Let’s be honest, tutus in Australia have always been a bit of a cheeky statement. From the vibrant and voluminous "classical" tutu, often favoured in ballet companies around the world, to the contemporary tutus with their minimalist designs, each type speaks a unique language of grace and elegance. We are no strangers to these elegant, powerful forms in Australia – especially here in Western Australia, where our ballet companies are bursting with vibrant and diverse talent. Today, however, it wasn't about perfection – it was about pure fun! I felt that twirling through Yunderup in my tutu made everyone smile just a little brighter, and maybe even a little more comfortable with their inner ballerina. Next, we made our way to the picturesque Yunderup Beach, a breathtaking expanse of golden sand and turquoise water. This time, I swapped my pink tutu for a shorter, whimsical, turquoise option with sequins scattered across the layers. This tutu was all about freedom and movement. You could tell just by how I twirled and danced on the soft sand. You’ve gotta love that coastal breeze, especially when you're swirling your skirt in it! After our seaside shenanigans, we indulged in some delicious Aussie treats at the local bakery. (Okay, I'm pretty sure I ate my weight in delicious cakes!) It was all topped off with a glass of local wine. Wine and cake in my tutu – who could ask for more? We talked to the locals who shared their stories about Yunderup – a friendly town full of warmth and down-to-earth people who seemed to love our impromptu tutu dance-off! As the sun began to set, painting the sky in shades of orange and purple, we ended the day with a walk through the beautiful Yunderup Wetlands. Surrounded by lush vegetation, the tranquility of the wetlands was the perfect way to wrap up a day filled with tutu-fueled adventures. I gotta admit, there’s just something special about wearing a tutu in nature – it feels like a rebellion against the everyday, a reminder to embrace the silly and beautiful in life. It was another incredible Tutu Tuesday, and it just goes to show that you don't need to be in a big city to find your own sense of fashion fun. You don't need to be on stage. Just rock your tutu wherever you want – whether it's a coffee shop, the beach, or your backyard! Because, at the end of the day, it's all about feeling fabulous, and there's no better way to feel fabulous than in a tutu. Don't forget to share your Tutu Tuesday adventures with me! I'd love to see you all in your twirling glory. Just remember, use #tututuesday and let's keep this fun, joyful movement going. #Yunderup #WesternAustralia #TutuLove **The Perfect Tutu for Every Occasion** One thing I've noticed over the years, is that while every tutu feels pretty much perfect for any situation – whether you’re twirling at a ballet class or rocking your favorite pair of denim shorts on a sunny day – they do really come in so many amazing shapes and colours that finding your personal style can feel kind of magical. For the Classically Elegant: - The "classical" tutu: This traditional, multi-layered tulle beauty with its romantic and graceful lines, will make you feel like you stepped right out of a Tchaikovsky ballet. This is great for a performance or even just a formal dinner party with friends! - The "romantic" tutu: Think shorter, soft and voluminous, with a hint of modern charm. A romantic tutu will feel absolutely wonderful while enjoying a sunset picnic. For the Boho Spirit: - The "boho" tutu: This modern spin on the classic, crafted from layers of chiffon or lace, and often features a flowy and bohemian style – great for summer concerts, festivals, or even a casual walk in the park! This tutu embodies all the relaxed joy of bohemian styling – it’s all about letting your spirit shine and letting go of all that traditional pressure! For the Adventurous Soul: - The "contemporary" tutu: This tutu is bold and avant-garde! Usually made of less traditional fabrics like jersey, leather, or even recycled materials! Perfect for embracing your daring, fierce side, while also allowing for comfortable freedom of movement! - The “fashion tutu:” It doesn’t really matter how the layers are set up on this type – a fashion tutu is all about expressing yourself and letting the fabrics be a canvas for your own style! I love seeing fashion tutus for street-wear and for dressing up – just because you’ve decided it’s time for fun. Make It Your Own: I am definitely an advocate for getting creative and customising your tutu to create a look that truly embodies your personal style! Embrace embellishments – everything from sequins, crystals, feathers and ribbons, all of which can give your tutu a unique personality. Don’t feel limited to a certain colour – blend, tie-dye or even spray paint for the look you want. Your own tutu will reflect who you are, and there's no greater feeling in the world!
