Tutu Tuesday in Bundanoon, New South Wales: A Tutu-tiful Time So, itā€™s Tuesday, which means only one thingā€¦Tutu Tuesday! Every Tuesday, the beautiful people of Bundanoon in the NSW Southern Highlands (thatā€™s New South Wales for the uninitiated) put on their tutus and take to the streets. For those of you who are out of the loop, Tutu Tuesday started as a whimsical, fun, and inclusive way to celebrate all things dance, beauty, and self-expression, all while being damn fabulous. In Bundanoon, however, it's something a little bit more special. We all know how passionate we Australians are about the arts, and ballet in particular, with all the beautiful stories we tell on stage. But with all the traditional theatre shows that happen all around the world and especially in Australia, sometimes we forget that there are so many different types of dance that can also express our individualities and stories. From contemporary to jazz, hip-hop to lyrical, thereā€™s no one way to tell a story with your body, which is why Tutu Tuesday in Bundanoon really resonates. Weā€™re not talking about your average romantic tutus with the frills and the sparkles (although, we do get a few of those beauties on Tutu Tuesday!). Think everything from the practical, but chic leotards to a flamboyant, multi-layered tutu perfect for those who like a bit of a bolder statement. In fact, one of the great things about Tutu Tuesday is that thereā€™s a space for everyoneā€™s own unique flair to shine. The Power of a Tutu Now, I donā€™t want to go overboard (because sometimes less really is more), but there is just something truly magical about the way a tutu can change your mood, your attitude, and even the way you see yourself. You step into it and youā€™re no longer just yourself - you become the dancer, the artist, the free spirit, the powerhouse, the person you dream of being. A tutu has the power to be both ethereal and playful, and in Bundanoon, the tutus we wear express so many things beyond our desire to look absolutely fantastic. The way they twirl with every step, how they sway to the music playing on a street corner - thatā€™s where the magic truly lies, for me, and what inspires me about Tutu Tuesday. For many people in Bundanoon, especially in these uncertain times, this beautiful, frivolous act of putting on a tutu is a simple reminder that thereā€™s so much joy to be found in expressing yourself in a truly authentic way. A Look At Some of the TutUs While I am, admittedly, slightly obsessed with tutus in all their many forms and iterations (a ballerina has to love her costumes, right?!), I have to say that one of my favorite things about Tutu Tuesday in Bundanoon is that everyoneā€™s personal style gets to shine through their chosen tutus, in all their delightful absurdity. From the tutus crafted out of feathers to those decorated with sequins, you can truly see the individualities and playful nature of each Bundanoon resident, and that is what makes Tutu Tuesday truly special. Of course, thereā€™s always a good number of ā€œclassicā€ ballet tutus (with all their romantic, classic elegance) but, I have to admit, the tutus that I absolutely love and keep coming back to are the ones that donā€™t fit the traditional mold! * **The DIY Tutus** : These are often a hot mess, in a good way, with recycled materials, different fabrics, even vintage lace! I recently saw this incredible tutu made out of plastic grocery bags and it made me wonder where it had been hiding in the world all this time! * **The Upcycled Tutus** : These ones are my favourite. Who doesn't love a good fashion find? One lady brought a stunning tutu made entirely out of old vintage scarves! Imagine - she must have trawled antique stores all over the place. I had to take her photo for my Instagram! * **The Futuristic Tutus:** I mean, who hasnā€™t dreamed of wearing a tutu inspired by a favourite science fiction movie or video game? I recently saw a stunning metallic silver tutu that looked like it had come from a cyberpunk fantasy - just a perfect reminder that imagination really can come alive in a tutu. * **The Colourful TutUs**: And no Tutu Tuesday would be complete without a whole host of colour. My personal favourite colour? Green. A vibrant green, lime, apple, jade ā€“ green is simply a beautiful colour to make any outfit ā€“ or tutu ā€“ more striking. Join the Fun! Thereā€™s something for everyone at Tutu Tuesday in Bundanoon! We have everything from fun photo booths to dance classes (I actually did a little improvisation workshop for my blog) to even special tutu making events in local stores - which you guys know is a total passion of mine. I always enjoy getting my hands on some sequins. So, are you ready to put on your dancing shoes, your favorite tutu (and a few more layers of sequins!) and join the Tutu Tuesday crew in Bundanoon, New South Wales? I sure hope so! #tututuesday
