Tutu Tuesday in Burradoo, New South Wales: A Celebration of Twirls and Grace #tututuesday

Hey lovelies! It's your girl, Amelia, here, back with another installment of my blog. This week, I'm channeling my inner ballerina and taking you on a whirlwind tour of all things tutu, right here in the heart of the beautiful Blue Mountains, Burradoo, NSW. Let's dive in!

As a seasoned professional ballet dancer in the Australian scene, tutus are more than just a costume for me; they’re an extension of my artistry. Each intricate fold, each layer of tulle, tells a story of elegance and strength, embodying the very spirit of the ballet world.

But hey, you don’t have to be a professional dancer to appreciate the magic of a tutu. From the classic romantic tutus, with their billowing layers of soft tulle, to the modern, streamlined styles with their geometric shapes and sleek silhouettes – there’s a tutu out there for everyone!

A Tutu Tuesday in Burradoo? Absolutely!

The charming village of Burradoo, nestled in the foothills of the Blue Mountains, has been the backdrop to many of my impromptu “Tutu Tuesday” celebrations. Think picture-perfect cobbled streets, historic stone buildings, and the breathtaking beauty of the Australian bush – a scene that just begs to be captured in a twirling shot.

My #tututuesday posts on social media usually spark some serious joy and good vibes! Imagine:

  • A bright pink tutu with floral embroidery whipping around as I spin under a cascade of golden sunlight filtering through the gumtrees.
  • A sleek, modern black tutu that makes me feel like a warrior princess, against the backdrop of a grand old Victorian house.
  • A fluffy, classical white tutu catching the breeze as I leap through a field of wildflowers.

Let's talk about different tutu styles - it’s important to choose the right tutu for your own body type and the look you’re going for:

  • The Romantic Tutu: This style has a tiered, billowing silhouette that evokes the elegance of classic ballets like "Giselle". The fabric is usually made of several layers of tulle and it’s often embellished with lace or beads. This one’s all about flowy elegance, but keep in mind that it can be quite voluminous!
  • The Modern Tutu: As the name suggests, this one is all about clean lines and geometric shapes. Modern tutus tend to be made with fewer layers of tulle, often in more structured styles. This one will really help to accentuate your dancer's physique.
  • The Ballet Tutu: This is the traditional, iconic tutu worn in classical ballets like “Swan Lake”. The traditional ballet tutu is constructed with several layers of very fine tulle. They are typically flat and have a shorter length that can sometimes be almost flat across the hips.
  • The “Pointe” Tutu: This one’s special for the ballerinas. A “pointe” tutu is a specifically-designed tutu designed for dancing on pointe shoes, with a tight construction and layers of tulle that are usually structured for maximum performance and support. It allows for even more fluid, controlled movements during the most technically demanding pointe work.

Let me tell you, Burradoo is not just any ordinary village – it’s got this kind of timeless elegance, perfect for playing with different tutu looks. Plus, there’s always this friendly and supportive energy from the locals. They just get it - they understand my need to let out a spontaneous twirl or two on a sunny afternoon.

But seriously, if you’re looking for a fun, feel-good way to express yourself and channel your inner grace and beauty, look no further than the amazing world of tutus. Whether you’re a seasoned ballerina like myself, a casual dance enthusiast, or just someone who wants to have a bit of fun, a tutu can truly bring joy and inspiration.

Now, go on, get out there, and let your inner tutu shine!

And don't forget to share your #tututuesday snaps!

XOXO,

Amelia
