Tutu Tuesday in Cooloola Cove, Queensland #tututuesday G’day, fellow tutu enthusiasts! It's your girl, Amelia, coming at you live from the sunny shores of Cooloola Cove, Queensland. You know what day it is, right? It's Tutu Tuesday! Now, I've been thinking. What makes Tutu Tuesday so special? Sure, it's an excuse to throw on a fabulous tulle confection and twirl to your heart's content. But there's something more to it, something deeper than a sparkly hemline. For me, it's a reminder that ballet is more than just a dance form; it's a community, a passion, and a lifestyle. And even though I'm a million miles away from the big city ballet studios, Tutu Tuesday reminds me that there's a kindred spirit out there in every corner of the country. Let’s be honest, Cooloola Cove isn't exactly renowned for its dance scene. Sure, we have the occasional beach yoga session and the occasional drunken karaoke rendition of "Bohemian Rhapsody" at the pub. But a full-fledged ballet studio? That's about as likely as finding a decent cuppa at the servo. So what does a ballet-loving girl do in a beach town like Cooloola Cove? She brings the dance to the beach, of course! Today, my trusty sidekick (and resident dog photographer, Winston, the golden retriever) and I set out on a mission: to celebrate Tutu Tuesday in style, Cooloola Cove style! Think about it, what's more Aussie than throwing on a tutu, grabbing your bestie (in this case, a fluffy doggo), and hitting the sand? We're talking salty air, sand between our toes, and the sun setting over the ocean – what more could you ask for? Our first stop was the beach, naturally. We started off with a classic, the "Swan Lake" pose: gracefully outstretched arms, a serene expression (well, as serene as Winston can get when surrounded by so many tasty smells). But as the sun dipped lower, our dance got a little wilder. With the wind whipping through my tulle and the sand squishing under my feet, I tried a few impromptu turns, a few dramatic lunges, and even a spontaneous grand jeté. Okay, maybe the jeté was more like a hop, but hey, who's counting? We were living in the moment, making Tutu Tuesday our own. And the best part? No judgment! No stuffy audience watching your every move. Just Winston and me, sharing a love for dancing, celebrating our passion, and living the dream...well, the "Tutu Tuesday" dream at least! And while I was there, soaking up the sun and twirling away, I had an epiphany: it doesn’t matter where you are, what style of tutu you’re rocking (let’s face it, you could wear the most fabulous tutu, but you can’t just walk around with it in a shopping centre, can you?) or even if you can do a triple pirouette. The point of Tutu Tuesday is about expressing yourself, spreading the love for dance, and embracing the sheer joy of a twirl. So, you don’t have to be in a major city to get your tutu on!
