Tutu Tuesday in Port Moonta, South Australia #tututuesday

G'day lovelies! It's your girl, Chloe, back with another instalment of #tututuesday. Today, we're heading down south to Port Moonta, South Australia, a town bursting with charm and salty sea air - perfect for twirling in a tutu.

Port Moonta is a bit of a hidden gem, nestled along the rugged beauty of the Yorke Peninsula. It’s known for its colourful history, its fascinating old mines, and, of course, its breathtaking coastline. This place oozes that classic Aussie beach vibe and is where my Tutu Tuesday adventures took me this time.

As a ballerina in Australia, we’re surrounded by so many iconic landmarks. You’ve got your Sydney Opera House and the Melbourne Arts Centre, where ballet holds such a special place in the community. But it’s important to me that ballet can be found in any setting, and that’s why I love bringing #tututuesday to smaller, unexpected towns.

Port Moonta didn’t disappoint! The quaint little town gave me such an old-world charm and sense of adventure that it immediately made me feel like a whimsical princess in my tulle.

Now, for the tutu part of this #tututuesday extravaganza! Today’s look is all about keeping it light, airy, and summery. This dreamy pale pink tutu is a vintage find I snagged at a charity shop, and let’s just say it’s the definition of "boho chic." This style, paired with a cute white cotton top and my trusty Doc Martens, adds a dash of effortless coolness that keeps my #tututuesday grounded.

My #tututuesday shenanigans kicked off with a wander down Port Moonta's charming main street, where colourful houses and old-fashioned shop fronts set the scene. This place is like a living history museum! As I pirouetted through town, locals greeted me with curious smiles, kids gasped in amazement (probably thinking I was a crazy but stylish fairy) and the sun beamed down, perfectly complementing my pink tutu.

Of course, no visit to a seaside town is complete without a dip in the ocean. Now, I don’t recommend twirling in your tutu while wading in the water unless you want your tulle to turn into a soggy mess. I’ll stick to my usual beach attire! However, I couldn't resist a little photo shoot at the edge of the sand, where the waves gently kissed my toes and the salt air carried away my cares. That’s the beauty of a beach - it can soothe the soul and invigorate the spirit in an instant!

Let’s talk about the magic of Port Moonta and my little #tututuesday adventure! I was completely enchanted by this place. The local people were welcoming and friendly, the landscape offered endless opportunities for breathtaking pictures, and the sense of community that lingered in the air made it a special place.

So, what are my top #tututuesday tips for a successful seaside escapade?

  • Embrace the sunshine! Whether you go for a classic pink or a bright orange, make sure your tutu colour complements the gorgeous shades of the sky and sea. This will make your photos even more magical!
  • Pack a sarong or wrap! It’s always a good idea to have a quick and easy cover-up for the days you just want to take a dip. It also adds another layer of chicness to your tutu look, transforming you from ballet dancer to bohemian goddess.
  • Let your inner child run wild! Explore the surroundings, chase the waves, and dance your heart out! That's what #tututuesday is all about - fun, creativity and self-expression.
  • Have fun! Most importantly, soak up the vibes and create some memories that will last a lifetime.

Now that you've had your fill of #tututuesday in Port Moonta, South Australia, go grab your best tutu and spread some twirling magic wherever you may be.
