Tutu Tuesday in Barmera, South Australia #tututuesday
G'day lovelies! Your girl here, Clara, back with another Tuesday Tutu blog, and oh, boy, is it a ripper! We're headed to the charming little town of Barmera in South Australia today. Picture this: the sun drenching the vineyards, the Murray River glistening in the distance, and a lovely little dance studio buzzing with energy, ready for a little tutu action.
For you non-dancers out there, Tutu Tuesday is a fun tradition in the world of ballet. It's a celebration of the quintessential ballet garment: the tutu. We're not talking just about the classic, knee-length tutus, but the whole shebang: the powder puff tutus that float like a dream, the dramatic tutus that scream drama, and the sassy, short-but-sweet tutus that say "watch out!".
Now, Barmera, while not exactly the heart of Australian ballet, is bursting with potential. It's the sort of place where you see children run wild with joy and where adults get in touch with their inner child. And, I think, there's no better place for tutus to shine.
What made my day extra special? My dear friend and fellow ballerina, Elsie, joined me in this tutu adventure! Elsie is a fierce ballerina with a contagious laugh, and seeing her all dolled up in her gorgeous Romantic tutu was like a dose of pure ballet joy.
I was rocking a stunning, emerald-green, two-tier tutu today, with a delicate sprinkle of shimmery sequins. We called it the "Emerald Forest" tutu and, let me tell you, it was absolutely divine, dancing under the sun of Barmera.
Here are a few of the things we learned on our Tutu Tuesday adventure in Barmera:
- Tutus are seriously good at brightening up a day! It's almost impossible to feel anything less than happy when you're spinning in a gorgeous tutu.
- Barmera is the perfect place for a Tutu Tuesday getaway. Think vineyards, fresh air, and sunshine! Plus, people are just so friendly.
- Never underestimate the power of a good Tutu selfie. We managed to capture some truly iconic moments, with Elsie and myself doing our best ballet poses. (Think "peacock" and "arabesque"!)
- You're never too old to dance! We were inspired by some absolutely amazing locals in Barmera who took our little Tutu Tuesday adventure in their stride and even showed us a few moves!
For all of you ballerinas and aspiring ballerinas out there, I challenge you to make your own Tutu Tuesday a reality! Don your tutus and get out there and dance. Spread the love of ballet, and show everyone how much joy and magic can be found in a simple tutu.
You never know what adventures you'll find when you let yourself be inspired by the joy of ballet. I know one thing for sure: Tutu Tuesday is definitely going to be a regular thing here.
