Tutu Tuesday in Mount Barker, Western Australia: A Ballet Blogger's Paradise

G'day, lovelies! It's your girl, Ava, back with another post, this time all about a magical trip to Mount Barker, Western Australia. As a ballet dancer with a penchant for tutus (who doesn't, right?!), I had to document my Tutu Tuesday adventures in this picturesque little town.

Now, let's talk about tutus. It's not just a piece of clothing; it's an art form in itself! From the classic, romantic **"Romantic" tutus** with their soft, flowing layers of tulle to the fierce and modern **"Bell" tutus**, each style brings its own flair to the stage. But on this particular Tuesday, I was feeling all sorts of classic vibes. I opted for a **"Romantic" tutu** in a soft blush colour, and it honestly felt like I was stepping straight out of Swan Lake.

But back to Mount Barker, right?! The town itself is a charm. Think charming streets lined with historic buildings, friendly locals, and a relaxed, almost timeless feel. It's the kind of place that makes you want to put on your best frock, grab a coffee, and simply soak up the atmosphere. It's no surprise that it's becoming a bit of a haven for art lovers and creative souls, myself included!

Speaking of art, let's get back to the ballet, eh?! Ballet in Australia is alive and kicking, and it was wonderful to see such a strong interest in the art form in Mount Barker. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the lovely folks at Mount Barker Performing Arts Centre. They're doing a wonderful job at nurturing a love for the arts in the community, and it's really inspiring. I have to give a shout-out to the young ballet students I met there. You guys are all so talented! It’s clear that ballet in Australia is in good hands.

I also spent a lovely afternoon at The Mount Barker Community Arts Centre, where I stumbled upon some pretty amazing artwork that sparked a lot of creativity in me. Honestly, I feel a little bit inspired to whip up some new tutu designs, or at least give my current ones a little bit of a makeover. That, my lovelies, is the power of a bit of cultural immersion!

The whole experience left me with an appreciation for Mount Barker, for its unique beauty, its cultural spirit, and of course, its appreciation for the graceful dance of the tutu. I think we should all make Tutu Tuesdays a regular thing – who's with me? I'd love to hear all your #tututuesday stories!

What to wear:

Now, if you're thinking about rocking a tutu yourself, I'm here to help you unleash your inner ballerina. I recommend these top tips to get the perfect Tutu Tuesday look:

  • Pick a tutu that flatters your body type. If you’re tall, a long and flowy "Romantic" tutu might be perfect, but for a shorter figure, a shorter **"Bell" tutu** might be the way to go.
  • Go bold with your top. Since tutus often feature tulle or satin, you can pair it with a structured, statement piece like a leather jacket, a blazer or a bold-coloured top for contrast. Or go with a vintage blouse and create a more retro look!
  • Accessorize with ballet-inspired pieces. Think elegant jewellery, a ballet flat, or maybe even a delicate ribbon in your hair!
  • Wear confidence, my lovelies. The most important part of any outfit is your attitude. So channel your inner prima ballerina and wear that tutu with pride.

Okay, my lovely lovelies. It’s time for me to sign off for now. Hope you had fun catching up with me today. I’m sending you all lots of tutu-filled love from Mount Barker, Western Australia! Don’t forget to join me on my #tututuesday adventure by posting photos of your amazing looks! See ya, babes! xx
