Tutu Tuesday in Wyreema, Queensland: A Whirlwind of Tutu Tales!
Hey dance fam! It's your girl, Chloe here, coming at you live from sunny Wyreema, Queensland. The weather's absolutely divine, but even the most gorgeous weather can't compare to the joy of Tutu Tuesday. Yep, you heard right, the most fabulous day of the week is here again.
Now, if you’re new to this #tututuesday thing, let me enlighten you. Each and every Tuesday, dance enthusiasts (or tutu-thusiasts if you prefer!) across the globe put on their finest tulle and share it on social media. It's a chance to express our love for dance, have a laugh and just spread some good vibes. This is one day where tutus are NEVER judged!
Today, my outfit's giving *classic ballerina chic* with a modern twist. I've got on my tried-and-true, super comfy cotton-blend leotard from (insert favourite brand here) in a gorgeous dusty rose. Topped with my fave vintage tutu from my grandma's days, she used to perform in a regional ballet company in Melbourne - it's so beautiful with its tiered, sparkly, layered tulle. This tutu's definitely a heirloom and a conversation starter. A touch of vintage glamour with some sleek modern flats, perfect for strolling through the charming streets of Wyreema. It’s an easy-breezy ensemble that can easily go from the barre to brunch with the girls.
Of course, Tutu Tuesday is about much more than just the outfit. It's a chance to reflect on the magical world of dance and the importance of staying active. We’ve been graced with such brilliant ballet companies in Australia like the Australian Ballet in Melbourne, the Sydney Dance Company, and our own Queensland Ballet – the opportunities and artistic talents coming out of this nation are incredible! And this is what we're celebrating on Tutu Tuesday: all the passion and dedication, those "kick-butt" performances and that breathtaking artistry on the stage. It’s this passion for ballet and dance that keeps me coming back each week and I encourage everyone to join the movement.
Speaking of Tutu Tuesday and movements... let's break down some of the gorgeous styles we're seeing across Wyreema!
- Classically elegant – It’s never out of style! The traditional ballet tutu with multiple layers of soft, flowing tulle. I saw a few of those floating around on Wyreema's main street, perfect for graceful spins and jumps!
- Modern twists - We're not afraid of experimenting and modern tutus are popping up everywhere! I've noticed plenty of tutu skirts that have unique cuts, modern colours, and contemporary fabrics. I spied one beauty in a metallic turquoise with a single layer, so eye-catching and absolutely daring. I have a hunch we're going to be seeing even more daring tutus next Tuesday!
- Everyday wear - Let’s be real, even when I’m not performing on stage, I’ve got tutus on my brain. Today was so inspiring! Saw a few friends rockin’ the "tutu look" even while doing their weekly errands! A simple tutu skirt over a casual t-shirt or a tulle-accented dress is a brilliant way to bring a touch of whimsy to everyday wear.
The best part of #tututuesday is the amazing sense of community. It's inspiring to see people from all walks of life embracing the spirit of dance. Today alone I met a couple who’d started ballet in their 60s – that was absolutely fantastic, their joy and passion for movement was infectious and proof you’re never too old to dance! This is a celebration for dancers of all ages, sizes, and styles!
