Tutu Tuesday in Warrrialda, New South Wales

G'day lovelies! It's your girl, Ava, bringing you all the latest from the world of dance, and this week, I'm hitting the dusty streets (literally!) of Warrrialda, NSW, to see if this little town has the tutu-loving spirit!

For those who haven't had the pleasure, Warrrialda is a beautiful, quintessential Aussie town. Picture wide-open skies, endless paddocks, and a charming main street that's all about that country-town vibe. So, why Warrrialda? Well, let's be real, this isn't exactly a ballet hub. But that's part of the fun, isn't it? Spreading the tutu love, no matter where you are!

Now, Tutu Tuesday is about more than just rocking a pretty tutu. It's about embracing your inner ballerina, no matter your level. It's about feeling empowered and graceful, about having fun and expressing yourself. It's about reminding everyone, tutus aren't just for the stage, they're for every day! And today, my friends, we're taking it to the heart of country Australia.

So, what's in store for Warrrialda's Tutu Tuesday?

  • First up, a quick visit to Warrrialda’s iconic “The Stockman's Inn”, where I'm rocking my signature powder-pink "romantic" tutu (think delicate layers and pretty ribbons), because let’s be honest, every good dance session needs some bubbly!
  • Next up, I’m meeting with Sarah and the gang at Warrrialda's “Barn to Boutique” vintage fashion shop! They have a hidden treasure trove of sparkling vintage fabric that’s perfect for transforming my basic black "practice" tutu into an absolute gem, with some strategically placed jewellery and fringe.
  • We're also grabbing some treats from “Country Creations” bakery – nothing like scone with cream for fueling my twirling adventures!
  • Then, we’re heading to Warrrialda's community hall for a pop-up tutu workshop, teaching everyone the basic steps. No need to be an expert, just come ready to laugh, learn and unleash your inner ballerina!
  • To wrap things up, I'll be joining Warrrialda's own little “ballet” club (they are super-dedicated!) for an outdoors performance under the stars. A classic "Swan Lake" pas de deux (that’s the famous swan dance!) to remind everyone that ballet is alive and well, even in the most unexpected places!

But why the obsession with tutus, you ask? Well, for one, it’s simply fun. It's a statement! And let's be honest, who doesn't love twirling in a flirty tutu? A tutu is about empowerment and confidence - It reminds you to embrace your inner sass and express yourself! And as a ballerina, let’s just say, it makes you feel a lot more elegant than jeans and a T-shirt! (Don't get me wrong, jeans and a T-shirt are great, but you gotta make space for tutus!).

Here are some things to keep in mind if you want to give Tutu Tuesday a whirl in your own neck of the woods, and let's be honest, you totally should:

  • Pick your tutu! Classic tulle (it’s got that airy and whimsical feel), fluffy ones, a shimmering tutu...the choices are endless, but pick one you feel your best in!
  • Dress to impress! Tutus work best with elegant pieces (we're talking silky tops, dresses, a good cardigan, and even those statement boots). Accessorize with a necklace or earrings that make you feel like a ballerina.
  • Think outside the box: don’t limit yourself to just ballet, put your tutu on to enjoy a delicious brunch with friends, go to the movies, head to a sporting event… you name it. Embrace every moment like it's a dance rehearsal!
  • Most importantly? Have fun! Enjoy your own uniqueness and spread the joy!

The response in Warrrialda has been absolutely amazing. There are so many people ready to embrace Tutu Tuesday. You know, I've always felt like a little bit of whimsy, a dash of confidence, and the right amount of tulle goes a long way!

Warrrialda, you’ve absolutely won my heart with your energy and open hearts, and I know you’ll inspire others all around Australia! Let’s make this a nationwide thing, because, after all, we all need more tutus, more whimsy and more sparkle in our lives. #tututuesday
