Tutu Tuesday in Chinderah, New South Wales

G’day, fellow tutu lovers! It’s your girl, Lily, back with another edition of Tutu Tuesday! Today, I’m hitting the streets of beautiful Chinderah, New South Wales, a little slice of paradise tucked away on the Tweed Coast. Now, you might think tutus are only for the stage, but trust me, they’re just as fabulous for a day out exploring this coastal gem.

I’m rocking a classic Romantic tutu today. Its soft, billowing layers are perfect for a breezy stroll along the beach, while the sheer, lightweight fabric keeps me cool and comfy. The delicate details, like the hand-stitched bodice and the intricate beadwork, give it a touch of elegance. This little number is a timeless classic that never fails to turn heads, no matter where I go!

As I head towards the Chinderah Bay, I spot a group of children playing on the sand. Their laughter fills the air, and I can’t help but feel a wave of nostalgia. Ballet started for me like that, you know. The pure joy of movement, the sense of magic that comes with being on stage. My tutu may have taken me all over Australia, from the grandeur of Sydney Opera House to the intimate community theatre stages of regional towns, but those early days are the ones that still fuel my passion. I guess you could say, I have tutu-tastic memories from every stage!

I can't talk about ballet in Australia without mentioning the incredible talent that we have here. We’ve got world-renowned ballet schools like the Australian Ballet School, and of course, The Australian Ballet - a national treasure, really. It's something we can be incredibly proud of. And as a dancer myself, I feel so grateful to be a part of such a vibrant, passionate community.

Now, let’s talk about where we’re heading next! Chinderah is a paradise for foodies like me, so today's agenda is packed with delightful discoveries. I’ve heard rave reviews about "The Little Mermaid Cafe," known for its scrumptious pastries and killer coffee. My sweet tooth is already tingling with excitement!

Later, I’m venturing over to the Chinderah Bowling Club for a bit of fun. Did you know they have themed nights where you can dress up and have a go at the greens? Think disco nights, cocktail evenings – I’m sure you can picture it! You never know, I might even be tempted to do a few spins on the bowling green myself! But don’t worry, I’m keeping my tutu perfectly pristine. This little number’s a true showstopper.

But let’s be honest, the real star of the show is Chinderah itself! It’s just that little bit different - less hustle, less bustle, and so much more chill than the bigger cities. Even though I love to dance and get dressed up for shows, sometimes it's nice to switch off from that world for a bit, get into my casual chic with my tutu, and appreciate the simpler things - like the warm Aussie sun, the sparkling turquoise waters, and the sense of community in this gorgeous corner of New South Wales.

Chinderah, you’ve already stolen a piece of my heart! Thanks for showing me what a real Tutu Tuesday can be. I hope you’ve been inspired to put on your own tutu and hit the streets for a little adventure. You might be surprised at what you find! Don’t forget to share your Tutu Tuesday stories on social media and use the hashtag #tututuesday.

Until next time, keep twirling!

Lily xo
