Tutu Tuesday in Beaufort, Victoria - #tututuesday
G'day darlings! It's your girl, Chloe, back with another post from the wonderful world of ballet! And what better way to kick off a Tuesday than with a little Tutu Tuesday, right? As you all know, my love for tutus runs deep. They're like little clouds of magic, and honestly, I can't imagine a life without them. But let's face it, when it comes to tutus, we've got options, right? There's the classic Romantic tutu - flowing and ethereal, with a super short bodice and a super full skirt. Then there's the more structured, dramatic, and frankly fabulous neoclassical tutu, often with an emphasis on those layers and shapes. We've also got those adorable little practice tutus, and of course, who can forget the fun of the whimsical tutu variations you see on stage in all sorts of ballets. Today's Tutu Tuesday adventure? A trip to Beaufort, Victoria! It's such a charming little town nestled in the heart of the state. Think old-fashioned architecture, a relaxed pace of life, and maybe a spot of homemade apple pie for afternoon tea. It's the kind of place where everyone says g'day with a smile, and you can feel that sense of community everywhere you go. Now, I know what you're thinking. Beaufort? Ballerinas? Seems a little out of place, right? Wrong! We were lucky enough to stumble upon the most amazing dance school there, nestled right next to the old library - a real little gem! As soon as I saw those barre stations and the dusty mirrors in the hall, I just knew that we were about to get real Tutu Tuesday vibes. The teacher, a woman named Mrs. Collins, was pure elegance in her simple black leotard and tutu - one of those classic Romantic ones with a perfect, slightly pouffy, skirt. She taught a class of tiny dancers, and those kids, let me tell you, they've got some serious moves. Their faces lit up like fireworks when they were in their tutus. Mrs. Collins told us that while ballet isn't as common in rural towns like Beaufort as it is in the big cities like Melbourne and Sydney, it's still something special, and it brings that magic and joy to kids all the same. It’s also what inspired me to write this post! This was just what #tututuesday was meant for - the real and honest love of dance in our beautiful country! Speaking of beautiful, these kids' tutus were something else. I spotted all sorts of styles - little ones in their beginner tutus with sweet, poofy skirts and those adorable ribbons, and then some older dancers in slightly more advanced versions with more sophisticated designs. I even saw a young ballerina who was rocking a black velvet tutu. Talk about edgy! Seeing all those tiny tutu-clad ballerinas was truly inspiring. It reminded me why I fell in love with this art form all those years ago - it’s a universal language that knows no borders, and that sense of joy, community and passion - you find that magic everywhere! Beaufort is definitely a place to put on your ballet bucket list! And, for any fellow tutu lovers, let's keep those tutus twirling, and spread the love of dance. Don't forget to post your tutu adventures with the hashtag #tututuesday! And remember, you don't need a fancy stage or a grand city to be a dancer - all you need is a passion for the art and a sprinkle of magic.
