Tutu Tuesday in Surfside, New South Wales: A Tutu-tastic Celebration of Dance

G'day, fellow dance enthusiasts! It's your girl, Chloe here, coming at you live from the sun-kissed shores of Surfside, New South Wales. Today's the day we've all been waiting for: **Tutu Tuesday!** Yes, it's time to ditch the thongs and slip into something a little more...whimsical. Let's dive into this magical day and see what Tutu Tuesday in Surfside is all about.

First things first, a little backstory. Now, you might be thinking, "Tutu Tuesday? What's that about?". Well, for those of you who aren't in the know, Tutu Tuesday is a monthly event where dancers around the globe, and especially here in Australia, put on their finest tutus, strike a pose, and share it with the world. Think of it as a dance-fuelled fashion parade with a side of community spirit and a dash of well, you guessed it - tutus.

It's all about celebrating our love for ballet, our inner child, and most importantly, the magnificent piece of garment that is the tutu! From the traditional, billowing classical tutus that grace the stage at the Australian Ballet, to the sassy, modern ones worn in contemporary dance performances, there's a tutu for every taste and occasion.

And believe me, in Surfside today, the tutus were on point. We saw classic pouter tutus, the romantic romantic ones, the frothy romantic, the sassy short tutus, the funky and the ever-so-chic, sparkly, modern tutus You name it, it was out there!

One of the highlights of the day was the Tutu Tuesday parade, held on the Surfside pier. Dancers, young and old, strode with confidence in their tutus. There were giggling toddlers pirouetting in miniature tutus, teenage ballerinas nailing arabesque's on the wind, and even some brave blokes rocking the tutus too! It was heartwarming and hilarious all at the same time!

The energy on the pier was contagious. As we strolled past, everyone was chatting about their tutus and favourite ballet stories. One of my favorite moments was when I spotted a group of teenage dancers who had fashioned tutus from beach towels - an excellent way to adapt a classic dance item into beachwear!

The pier's wooden boards became an impromptu stage as groups of dancers improvised a flash mob routine, bringing traffic to a halt and creating a joyous sea of spinning tutus.

To celebrate the end of our Tutu Tuesday parade, we enjoyed a picnic on the beach, with homemade snacks (plenty of Vegemite, of course), sparkling cider, and, of course, even more tutu chat! The sun began to set, painting the sky with streaks of gold, and we wrapped up our day feeling happy, energized and truly grateful for the joy of dancing in a tutu on a beautiful Australian day!
