Tutu Tuesday in Birdwood, South Australia #tututuesday
Okay, babes, Tutu Tuesday is officially my favourite day of the week! It’s a chance to embrace the grace and beauty of the classic tutu, and let's be honest, who doesn't love a bit of twirling?
As an Aussie ballet dancer, I’ve worn my fair share of tutus, from the simple practice tutus to the full-blown, show-stopping costumes. And while I’m definitely not wearing my full stage regalia today, it's still time to rock the look. Today’s pick is a gorgeous vintage-inspired tutu from a local vintage shop in Adelaide. It's a soft pink, layered tulle with a little bit of sparkle and a touch of whimsy.
Speaking of tutus, did you know that there's a whole range of tutu styles? The traditional romantic tutu is the epitome of ballerina grace, while the more contemporary, deconstructed tutu has gained popularity in recent years.
But, let's be real, the beauty of Tutu Tuesday is in the individual. It's about expressing yourself and having a bit of fun with fashion.
Today, I’m going for a relaxed vibe. Think classic tutu with a modern twist. My go-to look? The tutu paired with a casual crop top or flowy, long-sleeve shirt. It's a great way to embrace the romantic look of the tutu without going overboard. I also added a pop of colour with some bright-pink lipstick, perfect for adding that little touch of extra sass!
But Tutu Tuesday isn’t just about me; it’s about all of you, my gorgeous dance crew!
So grab your best tutu and join me in a virtual twirl! Show off your tutus and tag me using #tututuesday on your posts. I’m loving the different takes on the classic tutu, from romantic to contemporary to downright quirky!
Tutu Tuesday is a worldwide phenomenon, and the Australian ballet scene is no exception!
From the Sydney Opera House to the State Theatre in Melbourne, Australian ballerinas are showing off their stunning tutu styles. From Adelaide, I’ve even spotted a few incredible tutu-wearing ladies on Insta. There's a lot of talent out there. I'm even starting to see tutu-themed fashion pops up on my Instagram feed, which is awesome!
As a passionate advocate for the ballet community in Australia, I love seeing the art form gain traction through Tutu Tuesday.
This little bit of fun helps to make ballet accessible and fun for everyone, and shows that ballet is more than just an art form—it's a celebration of movement, creativity, and individuality!
So, here's to you, tutu-loving babes!
May your twirls be high, your smiles be wide, and your tutu Tuesdays be fabulous!
Stay sassy, stay stylish, and remember, #tututuesday is a chance to let your inner ballerina shine!
