Hanwell Heats Up With Tutu Tuesday

It's Tuesday, and you know what that means? It's Tutu Tuesday, darlings! And I'm thrilled to be reporting from Hanwell, where the tutus are out in full force. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. I knew London was a hotbed for fashionistas, but Hanwell? This charming town is really pushing the boundaries of tulle and tiaras, my dears. Forget the usual Monday blues - today is all about tulle and whimsy.

I was on the hunt for inspiration for a new blog post about my favourite tutu styles. It's a good job, you know, being able to try on every colour and shape under the sun. Honestly, some days, I think the only reason I haven't gone full prima ballerina is the fact I'm afraid of those tiny shoes. I can just see me in a full tutu, prancing around town, trying to pick up a coffee and knocking things over. No, that's just not a good look. And don't get me wrong, a little twirl is always welcome. I just know my balance is not that good.

Anyway, I had been cruising Instagram for some new ideas and thought, what better than to check out the #tututuesday trends on the ground? Hanwell was a good shout because the girls here seem to take their tutus seriously, bless them.

Where else would I see a group of mums dressed in tulle having a natter outside the coffee shop while their kids played on the swings? It was a sight to behold! These ladies knew how to rock a tutu, I'll give them that. You know those beautiful full-length tutus that sweep across the floor? They weren't the usual, you know, ballet pink. Think velvet black with hints of gold embellishments - total glamazon vibes. It really made you think they'd be quite happy at a dinner dance on a Saturday night, with their heels. Seriously, I'd have just worn a black dress if it was me.

But Hanwell wasn't just about full tutus. We had everything: fluffy pastel tutus worn over jeans and trainers. Those looked perfect for shopping and, seriously, who wouldn't want to pop into the shops feeling super fab in their tulle? But then, if that is not your cup of tea, I'm with you. That would be like the old school uniform in the 70s that my gran had when she was at school: a plain cotton blue dress with white, bib-fronted, long-sleeved blouse with a round, flat collar, worn with black knee-high socks, a black or grey gym shoe or "T-bar" and a grey beret. I always think about what I would be wearing if I was a student in those days - if only they'd let us rock tutus back then. Okay, perhaps I’ve drifted off.

Then we had those fabulous mini tutus that are just long enough to give a pop of colour to any outfit. These tutus had serious party vibes. Think glitter, neon colours, feathers and more. Imagine it all topped with sparkly makeup. If only they'd had these back in the day. But maybe the world was a little more innocent back then...I'm going to stop thinking now, or we will be here all day.

I am so glad I decided to hit the streets of Hanwell and experience Tutu Tuesday firsthand. It was a day full of creativity, colour and of course, twirling.

I had a chance to chat with some of the ladies about their tutu choices, and I’ve got to say they're pretty much on point. This isn't your average "ballet class" vibe either, but a serious dose of fabulousness. No one in Hanwell seems to care about whether it's 'too much.' I'm guessing everyone is rocking their own kind of style in the area and these fabulous women weren’t shy to put their inner ballerina front and centre. We definitely need to be bringing more fun to Tuesdays - not everyone wants to spend the entire day dressed in office wear!

A huge shout-out to all the lovely ladies in Hanwell rocking their tutus. And you guys, let's keep spreading the love and fun! Get your tulle on and join the #tututuesday revolution! Hanwell, you’re a fashion icon.

I hope you've been inspired by my trip to Hanwell. Now go forth and twirl! And, please, share your #tututuesday looks with me on social media. I can't wait to see what you've got!

Love,

The Tutu Queen (who's still dreaming of that Hanwell velvet tutu...)
