Coulsdon Tutu Tuesday: A Whirlwind of Tutus

Greetings, fellow dance enthusiasts! It's your favourite tutu-obsessed blogger, Lily, back with another dose of #tututuesday inspiration. And today, we're venturing beyond the studio walls to a town with a heart that beats to the rhythm of tutu dreams - Coulsdon! Now, some might say "Coulsdon? But it's in Surrey, what's it got to do with tutus?"

Let me tell you, darling, the tutu love is infectious! This Tuesday was anything but ordinary. I popped into town for some essential pointe shoe fittings (and a little browsing in the ballet shop, naturally), and discovered that #tututuesday was a real thing! Coulsdon, you have truly captured my imagination!

So, what made this Coulsdon Tuesday so unique? Let me share with you the highlights!

  • Tutus in the Window: I swear I saw a pair of dazzling tutus twinkling in the window of "The Sweet Pea", a little bakery with the most charming floral display I've ever encountered! It turns out, this isn't the only "tutu in a window" sight. Several local shops had been sporting the most adorable ballerina-themed displays in their windows. And the colours, darling! From the bold reds and pinks of traditional tutus to the chic black-and-white numbers reminiscent of Parisian ballerinas, these window displays had everything!
  • Tutu Time!: Who knew a Tuesday lunch break could be so exhilarating? A small crowd gathered in the main square, and I must say, they were absolutely breathtaking. People of all ages, sizes, and dance backgrounds, proudly wearing their tutus, with smiles wider than the stage of the Royal Opera House. It was truly a joyous spectacle!
  • Coulsdon Tutu Workshop! Forget afternoon tea - it was tutu time! Turns out, the local dance school was holding a "Tutu Twirl-a-thon" event, teaching the basics of tutu technique to anyone brave enough to give it a go. The instructor, Ms. Felicity, was a gem! Not only did she help the participants look stunning in their tutus, she actually taught them a simple, but graceful dance routine! It was adorable and hilarious all at once!
  • Coulsdon Tutu Fashion! Forget the catwalk, it was Coulsdon streets that were awash with tutu trends. The traditional 'princess' tutu, with layers of billowing tulle and graceful curves, had its rightful place. However, there was also a strong wave of the modern, 'fashion-forward' tutus. Think shorter lengths, sleek designs, and edgy detailing, like black ribbons and shimmering sequins.

All this, with the sound of laughter and music in the air, really solidified why #tututuesday had stolen my heart. This spontaneous, playful celebration of ballet and tutu magic left me feeling genuinely inspired. Coulsdon has proven that creativity knows no bounds, that even in the most unexpected places, the tutu spirit can thrive! And darling, if you happen to be in Coulsdon next Tuesday, do take a twirl!

Till next time, stay tutu-tastic!

Lily, your friendly neighbourhood tutu enthusiast.
