Tutu Tuesday in London: A Whirlwind of Tutu Inspiration! #tututuesday

As a seasoned ballet dancer and aspiring fashion blogger, I'm always on the lookout for ways to combine my two loves. What better way to do that than on a day dedicated to the ultimate symbol of dance - the tutu?

Tutu Tuesday, a social media trend that's been swirling through the ballet world like a pirouette, has landed in London with a bang! This week, I embarked on a tutu-filled adventure, scouting out the most stylish and whimsical tutus in the city.

My day began at the Royal Opera House, a true palace of dance. I couldn't resist popping into their shop, where a plethora of tutus awaited. There were traditional, romantic tutus in soft pastels, like the dreamy creations in *Swan Lake*. And then, there were those bold, edgy tutus, designed to unleash inner-fire, like the *Carmen* tutu. They had something for every dancer, no matter your style.

Next stop was Covent Garden, where I discovered a hidden gem called "The Tutu Boutique." This quirky little shop is a treasure trove of vintage tutus, perfect for those seeking a one-of-a-kind piece. I tried on a classic Romantic tutu, a wispy confection of white tulle. Its elegance and lightness took me back to the grand ballerinas of yore. And I must confess, I found myself daydreaming about gracing a grand stage.

No Tutu Tuesday exploration is complete without a trip to a local dancewear shop. This week, I chose The Dance Attic in Marylebone. With their friendly staff and wide range of styles, this shop is a dancer's paradise. Here, I fell in love with a playful and modern tutu, the perfect piece for contemporary choreography. I tried it on and felt the confidence rise, the creative energy buzz.

To make the day even more delightful, I joined the #tututuesday festivities with a ballet class at Danceworks in Islington. We danced through classic exercises, pirouette-ed our way across the studio, and even took a shot wearing a dazzlingly glittery, neon pink tutu. It was a fantastic way to feel a connection with the history of ballet and have some fun at the same time.

London, the City of Ballet and Tutu Tuesday!

Tutu Tuesday has shown me that London is not just a fashion capital but a hotbed of ballet. You can find a tutu for every taste and style, from vintage to modern, romantic to contemporary.

For my fellow dancers, I have some fun #tututuesday tips:

  • Tutu Transformation: Try mixing and matching. Combine a vintage tutu with a modern crop top or a pair of trendy trainers.
  • Make a Statement: A tutu is a statement piece, but it doesn’t always have to be traditional. Consider a fun colour, an embellished design, or a tutu that doesn't reach the floor.
  • The Perfect Occasion: Ditch the idea of only wearing tutus for ballet class. Wear your favourite tutu to a party, a picnic in the park, or to a concert!
  • Tutu-ly Unique: If you’re crafty, consider making your own tutu! Look online for tutorials for unique, custom designs.

So, let’s make this #tututuesday trend grow and grow! Join me in the Tutu Tuesday adventure and share your own tutu-filled fun. We'll turn London into a whirl of tutus!
