Tutu Tuesday in Granby, Quebec: A Whirlwind of Tulle and Tradition #tututuesday

Okay, so you guys know I’m obsessed with tutus. And this past Tuesday, I had the absolute best time celebrating all things tulle with a bunch of amazing dancers in Granby, Quebec! 🇨🇦💃 It was #TutuTuesday, and trust me, the vibes were higher than a grand jeté. 😉

So let’s talk tulle – it’s truly a magical fabric, you guys! It moves and flows, adds a touch of whimsy, and honestly, it's pretty much impossible to not feel a little bit fabulous in a tutu. The styles we rocked were pretty diverse – there was classic romantic, a bit of whimsical pouter, even some edgy contemporary ones, all bringing their own unique flair. 🤩

The energy was infectious as we all gathered in the studio, eager to get our twirls on. There were dancers of all levels and ages, from super experienced professionals to just starting out in their ballet shoes. It was amazing to see the shared passion and love for dance that brought us all together! 🥰

One of my favourite moments was a spontaneous “flash mob” we pulled off at the local park. Picture this: We're in the middle of a gorgeous sunny afternoon, and then all of a sudden, a bunch of ballerinas emerge from behind a tree, unleashing a whirlwind of twirls and graceful jumps! People were captivated. There was such a joyous feeling of bringing art and community together. 🩰🥳

It got me thinking: Why is Tutu Tuesday such a big deal for us dancers? Well, it's not just about the fashion (although it definitely is about that). It's also about a shared history, tradition, and above all, it's a way to celebrate the unique art of ballet. 🩰 It’s our way of showing pride and paying homage to the ballerinas who came before us. And as we continue to nurture a vibrant and thriving dance community here in Canada, we're also keeping ballet traditions alive and inspiring new generations of dancers to soar! 💪

Here are a few highlights from the day that definitely captured the magic:

  • The Tutu Showcase: We had a special little showcase in the afternoon where dancers showed off their individual tutus, their skills, and of course, their personality! Some went for classic elegance, while others embraced playful creativity with tutus of different textures and embellishments – the diversity was beautiful! 🎨
  • Tutu-Making Workshop: Talk about a fun experience! We gathered up our materials – layers and layers of tulle, elastic, ribbons, glitter (of course!) and got crafty. It was truly a “from the ground up” learning experience about all the hard work that goes into creating the tutus we wear. 🧵✂️
  • #TutuTuesday Photo Booth: How could we forget? We set up a fab photo booth, and, honestly, everyone’s Instagram feed went next level with awesome shots. Who wouldn't want a pic with your tutu buddies, surrounded by flowers and sparkles?! 🌸💖

For all of us ballet dancers, tutu Tuesday isn’t just a random fashion trend. It’s a chance to celebrate everything we love about the art, and a reminder that no matter your age or experience, ballet is for everyone, so if you ever want to try it out, just step on those ballet shoes and have some fun! 💃🎉

Oh, and one last thing – if you are ever in Granby, make sure to visit the local dance studios – they are full of amazing instructors and fellow dancers, waiting to welcome you! 🩰✨
