Tutu Tuesday in Wasaga Beach, Ontario: A Celebration of Dance and Fashion
Hey everyone, it’s your girl, Sasha, back with another post. Today is Tutu Tuesday and what better place to celebrate than Wasaga Beach, Ontario? The home of the longest freshwater beach in the world is also a haven for ballet enthusiasts. We’ve got gorgeous scenery, breathtaking sunsets, and a ton of opportunities for dancers to move freely and beautifully.
And you know me, a ballet dancer in my 20s with a love for fashion? A day dedicated to tutus just had to be celebrated. This beautiful town has become the centre of the #Tututuesday movement. A movement that goes beyond simply donning a tutu for fun, it’s about embracing elegance and beauty through movement, fashion and community.
The air was thick with the excited buzz of the community, and I could already sense this Tutu Tuesday was going to be spectacular! The beautiful weather was a definite plus and everyone had on their most extravagant tutus and danced around the boardwalk and on the sand like never before.
Today I took it back to basics with a classic, romantic tutu. A simple and elegant choice. But that's not all the styles we had on the boardwalk today! From whimsical, layered tulle masterpieces to modern, edgy numbers – the creativity here in Wasaga Beach never ceases to amaze me.
Speaking of creative, have you checked out the ballet scene in Canada? It’s booming! We have amazing ballet schools and companies, nurturing talent across the country. So, on this beautiful Tuesday, let’s give a shoutout to all the dancers who inspire us.
Why #tututuesday?

**The Tutu Styles in the House:**
- Romantic Tutus: A nod to the classics, these delicate, single layer, soft tulle tutus gracefully move with every twirl. You’ve seen these beauties in iconic ballet pieces.
- Whimsical Tutus: Layers and layers of tulle in bright, vibrant colors just begging to be twirled and spun. The whimsical tutu embodies playful femininity and is guaranteed to make heads turn.
- Edgy Tutus: This bold and daring tutu is made from materials like leather or silk. It combines the traditional shape of the tutu with a touch of rebellion.
- Modern Tutus: Not for the faint of heart! These abstract interpretations of the classic tutu go beyond traditional ballet designs. They can include intricate patterns, unexpected textures and asymmetrical shapes that make a bold statement.
