Hey dance lovers! It's your girl, Clara, back with another edition of my blog, all about the world of ballet, fashion, and everything in between! This week, we're taking a trip to L'Assomption, Quebec, the heart of Canadian ballet, to celebrate Tutu Tuesday in style!
If youāve been following my blog for a while, you know that Tutu Tuesday is my favourite day of the week. Itās a chance to celebrate the beauty, history, and sheer awesomeness of the tutu. And letās be honest, whatās more Canadian than ballet? Think about it: iconic ballerinas, beautiful performances, and those stunning tutus!
LāAssomption, Quebec is renowned for its rich cultural heritage and its dedication to the arts. I've been dying to explore the local ballet scene and, I have to tell you, LāAssomption certainly didn't disappoint! I visited the gorgeous Studio de Danse LāAssomption, which is basically a ballet wonderland! There are classrooms buzzing with young talent and professional dancers who are just amazing to watch.
But this post isn't just about admiring ballerinas! We're going all out for Tutu Tuesday! I spent the day scouring the shops in LāAssomption, hunting for the perfect tutu for my photoshoot! Now, youāre probably picturing the classic, romantic, dreamy tutu, right? But my friends, today we're taking it a step further!
Tutu Tuesday Style: Modern and Playful
It's not all about the classics anymore, and letās face it, I want to stand out from the crowd! Instead of a traditional white tutu, I went for something a little more adventurous, a stunning, modern black tutu with a hint of drama. Imagine this: itās got an ethereal silhouette that flows beautifully as you move, itās black and edgy but itās also adorned with delicate layers of shimmering tulle that catch the light perfectly! I've been totally loving this unique mix of modern style and classical elegance. It just embodies my personal aesthetic ā classic ballet with a contemporary edge.
The Fun Part! Exploring Tutu Styles!
- Classic White Tutus: Imagine sweeping white layers of tulle and romantic ruffles! Itās like dancing through a fairytale. I love the way it conveys this delicate innocence. Itās timeless. But remember those classic white tutus arenāt just limited to one style. Thereās also the āRomantic Tutuā, where you see the dancer wearing a longer skirt that falls to their feet - like a beautiful flowing cloud. You might have also seen the "Bell Tutu", a more streamlined and tight-fitting tutu, where the skirt fans out like a bell, which I think is perfect for emphasizing a dancer's form.
- Modern Tutus: And donāt forget about modern tutus! We have tutus in all kinds of materials, colours and styles, with bold details. Itās the perfect look to express your personal style!
- Short Tutu: Think powerful leaps and energetic performances. A short tutu gives so much freedom for dancers! A classic design, which emphasizes athleticism, this tutu really packs a punch!
- Layered Tutus: This tutu style adds even more dimensions to movement on the stage, adding texture and interest and drawing the eye in! The layers can create movement, a soft floating look that is truly ethereal.
- The Colour Palette: Donāt limit yourself to black and white. From bold crimson and sapphire to ethereal lavender, Iāve even seen yellow and gold! The world of the tutu is truly expansive, offering possibilities to match any mood or stage concept.
Letās Take Tutu Tuesday Beyond Ballet
Tutus aren't just for ballet! While this style was made famous by dancers, itās truly made its way to become a style icon! The tutu has gained a huge amount of cultural recognition, finding its way into fashion magazines, music videos, and everyday style! Just look at those adorable little tutus for kids! I think itās amazing to see ballet influencing fashion like this, because the message is: āEmbrace creativity, embrace playfulness, and dance your way through lifeā.
