Tutu Tuesday in Varennes, Quebec: A Celebration of Whimsy and Grace #tututuesday

Hey everyone! It's your girl, Claire, back with another fabulous post, this time straight from the charming streets of Varennes, Quebec. I'm all about bringing a little bit of ballet magic into everyday life, and what better day to do it than on a sunny #tututuesday? Varennes, with its historic charm and picturesque scenery, was the perfect setting for a celebration of the most iconic ballet garment - the tutu!

For this #tututuesday adventure, I decided to rock a classic romantic tutu, you know, the kind that makes you feel like you're gliding across a moonlit stage. It was a full, billowing dream, with layers of soft tulle that flowed with every twirl. And speaking of twirls, Varennes, with its cobblestone streets and charming plazas, offered the perfect opportunity to practice a few pirouettes and jetés.

Let's talk about tutus for a second. There are so many different styles, and each one brings a unique story to life. Today, I chose the romantic style, but here are a few more you might be familiar with:

  • **The Classic Tutu:** This is the tutu that most people picture when they think of ballet. It’s typically made of layers and layers of tulle and has a tight bodice.
  • **The Romantic Tutu:** Known for its flowing layers of soft tulle, it is a ballet dancer’s dream to twirl in!
  • **The Platter Tutu:** Often seen in classical ballets, the platter tutu is short and full and has a stiff, flat shape.
  • **The Bell Tutu:** Inspired by a flower's shape, the bell tutu is usually quite long and tight around the waist.
  • **The Contemporary Tutu:** You might catch a glimpse of the contemporary tutu in contemporary ballets; it's all about soft fabrics, creative silhouettes, and playful experimentation.

My little #tututuesday promenade started at the charming Place de l'Église. As I floated past the colourful flower boxes and the iconic church, I felt like I had stepped into a storybook. People smiled and waved, and I couldn't help but grin back, feeling the warmth and charm of this small, lovely Quebec town.

The Varennes Museum was another highlight of the day. I was fascinated by the rich history of this place, and the museum's exhibits beautifully illustrated the town's growth over the centuries. What I loved was that they had a section showcasing the rich history of ballet in Canada.

Yes, you heard right, ballet has a fascinating history in Canada. It's not just about grand theatres in Toronto and Montreal, although we're incredibly fortunate to have them. It’s a history woven into communities, across Canada. We have ballet schools, academies and companies in all corners of this great country, contributing to the vibrant world of ballet.

There’s something so delightful about wearing a tutu and getting to twirl in public spaces. People tend to smile and some even join in with a spin or two! It truly brings a bit of magic to everyday life. Maybe you'll even catch me doing a couple of "Fouetté" steps next #tututuesday - you know, just a little flourish!

Varennes was the perfect backdrop for my #tututuesday adventure. With its sweet cafes, historical sites, and picturesque charm, this Quebec town will forever hold a special place in my heart.

So, if you're ever looking for a place to explore your inner ballerina, look no further than Varennes, Quebec! It's a town where you can channel your inner dancer and spread some tutu love. Who knows, you might just inspire someone to take their own little ballet adventure, #tututuesday or any day!
