Tutu Tuesday in North Grenville, Ontario: A Whirlwind of Fashionable Fun

It's your girl, Chloe, back with another blog post, and this time we're taking it to the streets, or more accurately, to the sidewalks of North Grenville, Ontario for a day dedicated to all things tutu. That's right, my friends, #tututuesday is upon us, and we're about to get our twirl on. 💃
For those of you unfamiliar with the movement, Tutu Tuesday is a celebration of the iconic garment of the ballet world – the tutu. It's a day to showcase your love for the elegant dance form through your fashion choices. Whether you rock a classic romantic tutu or something more modern and edgy, Tutu Tuesday is about celebrating dance, art, and a whole lotta twirling! It’s really taken off all over Canada – just last week, I saw an awesome tutued up group in Vancouver!
But hold on, don't let the fancy word "tutu" scare you off. I'm not talking about the rigid, formal tutus of the ballet stage here. (Though I'd rock one in a heartbeat, and if you're going for that look, a romantic, multi-layered tulle tutu or a classic single-layered tutu would totally slay! 💕). Think fun, comfortable styles – anything that can give you that airy, twirly feeling. I saw a friend rocking a fabulous denim tutu in Ottawa. We even saw some gals with tutu skirts in Toronto! Even if it's just adding a bit of tulle to your outfit – maybe a tutu skirt layered over leggings or jeans - that counts! We’re all about celebrating tutus and all their possibilities!
Now, back to our North Grenville adventure. I woke up feeling like a princess in my little tutu outfit – I think I chose a little flowy layered tulle tutu with a cute sweater and leggings. The streets were a delightful spectacle, filled with tutued people of all ages, showcasing the beauty and versatility of this iconic piece. And as you know, this dancer lives for versatility! Some people kept their tutus sleek, elegant, and simple, while others went all out with their tutus. My buddy John chose a tutu top with black jeans and a studded belt – looked seriously dapper!
So, here’s what made this #tututuesday especially special:
- Tutus for every personality: It was so fun to see the variety of tutus – classic romantic, punk rock, cute, and sassy. They were paired with so many different clothing styles – sweaters, t-shirts, and even denim jackets.
- The smiles! There was something truly infectious about seeing people all dolled up in tutus and smiling. It brought a burst of joy to my day and reminded me why I love ballet – the energy is truly electric.
- Tutu love all over town: We saw families enjoying Tutu Tuesday together. It was beautiful to witness. One group even did some twirling in the middle of the market square!
Honestly, it wasn’t even all about the tutus, it was about the spirit and camaraderie that the day brought – like one big happy dance party! North Grenville was definitely showing its passion for dance, and it was inspiring. And remember, there are no rules! As long as you have a tutu on, you’re officially participating!

- Treat yourself: Tutu Tuesday is an excellent excuse to treat yourself! The event coincides with local farmer's market, so you can enjoy freshly-made goodies. Pick up a delicious pastry or enjoy some yummy snacks!
