Tutu Tuesday in Canmore, Alberta: Where Ballerinas and the Rockies Collide #tututuesday

Hey fellow dance enthusiasts! It’s your girl, Clara, here, ready to spill the tea, or rather, the tulle, on Tutu Tuesday. Today, we’re trading in our pointe shoes for hiking boots and venturing out to explore the majestic Canadian Rockies, specifically, the breathtaking town of Canmore, Alberta.

As a Canadian ballerina who's always on the hunt for new ways to incorporate our beautiful national landscape into my everyday life, I had a revelation! What better way to celebrate Tutu Tuesday than with a twist? It’s time to take tutu's beyond the stage, into the mountains!

I’m going to be honest, I was a little nervous. What if I looked ridiculous? Would people think I was trying too hard? Then I realized, who cares? This is about expressing yourself and pushing boundaries. Tutu’s aren’t just for ballerinas, they’re for anyone who wants to feel a little bit of magic in their day!

My plan? Rock my new tulle tutu (it's a powder blue, classic, yet edgy!) in Canmore’s scenic landscape. I'll pair it with a stylish cozy sweater, a cute toque and of course, my trusty hiking boots for a bit of a contrast!

As soon as I got to Canmore, it was clear this place was a dancer’s paradise! The natural beauty is breathtaking. Imagine snow-capped mountain peaks against a crystal-clear blue sky. The feeling of serenity you get while looking at it. Oh, and did I mention the charming boutiques?

I've got to give a shout-out to Canmore's awesome boutique scene! They had some of the best dancewear! There were all types of tutus: the romantic classics in soft hues, bold, modern tutus made of neoprene and mesh, even tutus adorned with sparkles!

Before venturing out, I hit up one of Canmore’s cool cafes. It had that chic, rustic, mountain feel that I love, and they even had a super cute balcony. There was some funky music playing, and it was all around such a vibrant place. I loved it, but even more important, people seemed to love me and my Tutu! I was getting high-fives from local Canadians and tourists!

After refueling, I embarked on the adventure. The trails were amazing! Imagine majestic forests, and snow-covered mountains that stretch up into the sky as far as you can see! It was pure bliss. Even though I was wearing my tutu (that added a little pep to my step), the hiking was surprisingly easy! You could definitely rock any style of tutu! Think about it: a vibrant red tutu would make an eye-catching contrast against the white snow! Or a black tulle tutu would create a stylish, edgy vibe. Imagine rocking your best ballet tutu against the backdrop of the Canadian Rockies! I was on fire!

Tutu Tuesday in Canmore proved to be way more fun than I expected. And I realized that even if you’re not a dancer, you can embrace Tutu Tuesday with a twist. Just put on your favourite outfit, find a cool spot, and be bold! If a Canadian girl can rock a Tutu in the Canadian Rockies, anyone can do it! Here's what I learnt!

  • Be unapologetically yourself! It's all about embracing your individual style.
  • Embrace new ways to rock your favourite outfits.
  • Don’t let anyone tell you that Tutu’s aren’t for outside of the ballet studio!
