Tutu Tuesday in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Quebec: #tututuesday

Hey everyone! It’s your girl, Claire, here from the heart of Quebec, ready to bring you some major tutu Tuesday vibes. As a ballerina navigating the Canadian dance scene, I've always been a fan of the classic tutu. But with the growing trend of #tututuesday I gotta say, it’s been extra fun rocking these pretty pieces every week!

Today, I wanted to talk about the beauty of tutus and share why I think they're not just for the stage. I mean, sure, there’s nothing quite like the feeling of gliding across the stage in a billowing, full-length Romantic tutu, or the sharp, athletic edge of a short, modern tutu for a contemporary ballet number. It’s part of what makes ballet so magical!

But tutus, to me, aren’t just for professional dancers or the stage, you guys! They’re for everyday adventures! Whether you’re out for brunch with friends or getting your caffeine fix in your local Starbucks (or, for the true Québécois experience, Tim Hortons!), a tutu adds a fun and whimsical flair to any outfit!

And let’s be real – we Canadians need all the extra whimsy we can get! Let’s face it – the winters can be long, eh! But even when it's a chilly Canadian winter, tutus are a reminder that joy and playfulness are possible all year round!

Tutus: A Versatile Fashion Statement

What's fantastic about tutus is that they come in so many different styles! This gives them the perfect amount of versatility to go with any personality or mood.

  • Romantic Tutus: Dreamy and flowy with multiple layers and frills. For those days when you’re feeling feminine, flirty and fancy! They’re also perfect for spinning, and creating extra dramatic twirls. Think Cinderella waltzing with the prince!
  • Modern Tutus: Bold and short. They’re for those who want a more modern, sleek, and less fussy silhouette. You can style a modern tutu with almost anything! They add a cool contrast to a casual denim jacket and jeans or can even make a cute office outfit pop!
  • Custom Tutus: For the truly adventurous! These are designed and personalized by independent artisans, letting you be unique and showcase your own style! Some go as far as incorporating fun textures, like silk or sequins, to add sparkle and drama.

So whether it's a classically inspired Romantic tutu with a layer of delicate tulle, or a playful, whimsical short tutu in your favourite colour – I’m telling you, tutus are more than just costumes! They’re an opportunity to have fun with fashion and express your individuality!

Celebrating Tutu Tuesday in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts

Now, you know I had to make the most of Tutu Tuesday and take a spin in my fave spot – Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, the beautiful lakeside city in the Laurentians of Quebec! What better way to embrace #tututuesday than surrounded by stunning scenery and fresh air?!

This week, I'm sporting a custom tutu I recently found from a local independent seamstress right here in Sainte-Agathe. It's a perfect mix of both Romantic and Modern. The flowy layers create the graceful, elegant look of a classic tutu, while the fabric has a more contemporary look. Think silky cotton, perfect for spinning through the local farmers market, instead of a more traditional, stage-ready, scratchy tulle!

I love the versatility of #tututuesday! Today I’m embracing my ballerina heritage by strutting my stuff on Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts' charming downtown streets. I think Tutu Tuesday is all about expressing your individuality in any way that brings joy! This week, it’s a tribute to my love of ballet, nature and being proudly Canadian!
