And what better day to do so than Tutu Tuesday? So, pack your dancing shoes and your biggest smile because I'm taking you on a tutu-tastic journey through the picturesque town of Summerland, British Columbia!
Summerland, a haven for wine lovers and nature enthusiasts, has been my chosen destination for a little tutu escapade. This quaint town nestled on the shores of Okanagan Lake is known for its stunning landscapes, charming shops, and – you guessed it – a delightful blend of fashion and flair that complements my Tutu Tuesday mission perfectly. Think rolling vineyards, orchards bursting with fruit, and sun-kissed streets where even the architecture has a bit of a whimsical charm. And trust me, this town provides the perfect backdrop for twirling and twirling in my favorite tutu. It just sets the mood right.
For this Tutu Tuesday, I've decided to embrace a playful and colourful ensemble. It's all about embracing the carefree summer vibes and showcasing the diversity of tutu styles. After all, tutus are not just for the ballet stage! Today, I'm wearing a stunning romantic tutu featuring layers of airy tulle, a bright yellow hue that pops against the lush greenery, and just a hint of shimmer for that extra sparkle. It's light and breezy enough for strolling through town, but still has a touch of elegance that feels very ballet inspired. I've paired it with a crisp white crop top and classic ballet flats for a touch of classic femininity.
My Tutu Tuesday adventure begins with a trip to the charming downtown core. The cobbled streets lined with quaint shops and boutiques are just begging to be explored! There's something for everyone – vintage treasures, artisanal goods, and local delicacies – making it the perfect place to soak up the charming atmosphere.
As I wander through Summerland's historic district, I can't help but feel a twirl coming on. Every charming corner, from the vibrant murals to the cozy cafes, offers a perfect backdrop for capturing a tutu-worthy shot. This is when I discover the hidden gems of the town – the little parks nestled amongst the shops, perfect for a spontaneous pirouette, or a charming café courtyard, where I could imagine taking a break from my exploring with a perfectly brewed coffee. Even the little garden spots that you come across seem like little sets where the ballet comes alive!
One of the highlights of my Tutu Tuesday excursion was definitely exploring the local markets. Imagine colourful fruits, perfectly plump berries, and all sorts of artisan creations - from delicious local jams to hand-crafted jewelry, the Summerland markets are like a visual feast. With every corner you turn there are new textures, colours, and scents that just invigorate your senses. And, what makes it even better for me? The vibrant energy of the marketplace creates the perfect backdrop for showcasing my romantic tutu. The soft colours and delicate patterns in the market felt like an extension of my Tutu Tuesday outfit.
Speaking of a visual feast, the heart of Summerland is definitely the scenic lakeside. It's hard to resist the call of the shimmering water and the majestic mountains in the background. This is where my ballerina heart comes alive and the possibilities for tutu photos abound. Here, my bright yellow romantic tutu pops even more, playing off of the soft blues of the Okanagan Lake. It's just so picture perfect. And this time I had to bring out the camera for a proper "ballet by the lake" photo shoot.
A trip to Summerland isn't complete without a visit to the renowned vineyards. With rolling hills and lush greenery, the wineries are breathtakingly picturesque and offer a chance to sip on some of BC's finest vintages. I paired a glass of local Riesling with a slice of delicious Okanagan peach pie (can't get much more Canadian!) and admired the rolling hills from the outdoor patio, soaking in the tranquility. You have to love the simple things in life.
