Tutu Tuesday in Wellesley, Ontario, Canada: #tututuesday
Hey fellow ballet lovers, and fashionistas! Itās Tutu Tuesday, and today, weāre celebrating the ultimate symbol of grace and elegance, the tutu, right here in Wellesley, Ontario, Canada! For those of you who donāt know, #tututuesday is a weekly ode to all things tutus, a playful hashtag where we showcase our favourite tutus and share our love for this iconic garment.
Being a ballet dancer, the tutu is an integral part of my life. Itās more than just a garment ā itās a powerful symbol of artistic expression, of years of dedication and training, and itās a piece that lets us tell stories with every pirouette, every grand jetĆ©, and every pas de deux. Thereās just something magical about the way a tutu flows, the way it catches the light, the way it transforms the dancer on stage.
But enough about the traditional stage-worthy tutus, let's dive into the fashion side of things. This week, Iām excited to explore the many ways to wear a tutu off the stage. Because, let's be honest, a tutu can be so much more than just a ballet costume. It can be a fun and whimsical piece for any occasion!
Here are a few of my favourite tutu styles to wear off the stage, that are perfectly #tututuesday-worthy!
- The Classic Romantic Tutu: For a whimsical, ethereal look, embrace the classic romantic tutu. Picture yourself in a flowing tulle tutu with delicate layers and a simple bodice. You can pair it with a simple blouse and cardigan for a casual look, or dress it up with a stylish top and heels for a special event. This style screams āen pointeā even outside the studio!
- The Modern Mini Tutu: Who says tutus have to be long and flowing? This mini tutu style, with its shorter length, brings a bit of edge to the classic tutu silhouette. It's super versatile ā perfect for layering over jeans, dresses, or skirts! I love it for a bold statement that can be styled for a brunch, concert, or night out!
- The Fun & Flirty Tutu Skirt: A shorter tutu with a fuller silhouette - this skirt can be the perfect balance of whimsy and effortless style. This skirt can be paired with a simple t-shirt for a playful daytime look or dress up with a chic top for a night out. A fabulous #tututuesday statement indeed!
- The Tutu as a Layer: You donāt need to just rock a tutu on its own ā layering it over pants, leggings, or dresses is all the rage. It can be a subtle nod to your ballet background while still adding that extra layer of oomph to any outfit! This style can go from day to night in a snap!
- The āJust for Funā Tutu: Letās face it, some tutus are simply for fun! This tutu may be a brightly colored, sparkly, or even an āoversizedā version of a classic style - this is for those days youāre ready to embrace the whimsy! Throw it on for an unexpected, fun twist and let your inner ballerina shine through.
I love finding ways to incorporate tutus into everyday life ā it's a little reminder to embrace our creativity, let loose, and be playful. In Wellesley, weāre lucky to have a vibrant and supportive dance community. Ballet is a beloved art form here, and we're proud to share it with the world.
So, tell me! What's your favourite way to rock a tutu? I want to see your #tututuesday styles. Tag me on your photos. Iām looking forward to your inspired looks ā whether youāre twirling across the stage or in a cafĆ© in Wellesley. Have a fabulously Tutu-rific day! #tututuesday
