Tutu Tuesday in Renfrew, Ontario: A Celebration of Ballet and Fashion

And even though I spend most of my days practicing in a studio, the spirit of ballet permeates every aspect of my life. That includes, of course, my wardrobe.

Tutues have evolved a lot over the years, and we have a wide variety of styles to choose from: The Classics * **The Romantic Tutu**: Picture flowing layers of tulle, romantic and ethereal—it’s the quintessential ballet tutu. * **The Classical Tutu**: This one is known for its tightly fitted bodice and graduated layers of tulle, creating a shorter and more streamlined silhouette. Think timeless, graceful lines. Modern interpretations: * **The Contemporary Tutu**: This is my personal fave. It embraces the dynamic energy of modern ballet. Forget tight bodices—we’re talking free-flowing skirts with dramatic shapes and asymmetrical cuts. The Contemporary Tutu can be tailored with lots of fabric, a hint of drama, or minimal tulle and structure—making it endlessly versatile. * **The Asymmetrical Tutu**: For a bolder statement, consider the asymmetrical tutu. These tutus feature uneven layers of tulle and can be constructed in a range of styles, adding an edgy touch to your dance attire. For my #TutuTuesday post, I've opted for a lavish asymmetrical tutu that features soft layers of blush-colored tulle. I love how it dances and twirls with every move. I've paired it with a black, fitted leotard, a perfect classic touch. The tutu is definitely the focal point, while the leotard creates a contrast in style and colour, resulting in a beautiful juxtaposition that's just perfect.
