Bonjour from Delson, Quebec! As a ballet dancer and fashion-obsessed blogger, thereās no day better than #TutuTuesday! So grab a cup of Tim Hortons and settle in, because today Iām taking you on a whirlwind tour of this adorable town and sharing all the amazing tutu finds that I uncovered.
Okay, so you might be thinking: "Tutus in Delson?" That's what I thought too, until I realised how much this sweet little town, tucked away in the suburbs, had to offer the discerning dance aficionado like myself. Sure, there wasnāt a dance shop on every corner, but with a little digging, I found some true gems. Iām talking stunning tutus of all shapes and sizes, perfect for everything from recitals to professional performances. It was like stepping into a tutu paradise.
First stop, the lovely little antique shop, Le Chic Antique. Imagine my surprise when I found a vintage tutu, perfectly preserved, in a dusty corner! It had a gorgeous romantic silhouette, with tiers of soft, pale pink tulle that whispered āvintage glamourā. You bet I bought it, and can't wait to find the perfect vintage event to debut this timeless beauty!
Speaking of timeless, my next find had the perfect blend of tradition and modernism: a stunning contemporary tutu from Boutique Couture. They specialize in ballet wear and even made custom tutus for my recital. My chosen one was a black and white beauty, a real eye-catcher. It had a striking geometrical design on the bodice and a delicate yet bold asymmetric layer of tulle. This tutu was made for modern dancers with a penchant for elegance.
No Tutu Tuesday is complete without exploring local thrift stores! I unearthed some absolute treasures. There was this adorable pink and green striped tutu from Les TrĆ©sors de la Grand-MĆØre. A perfect little dance piece, maybe not for the stage, but oh, how great itāll be for fun classes or rehearsal.
And what's Tutu Tuesday without a little bit of fun? Of course, we had to stop by CafĆ© des Arts to try their fabulous lavender latte while enjoying a tutu-themed "arts and crafts" afternoon! They even offered free sewing lessons for basic tutu alterations. I'm adding this to my new year's resolutions - a Tutu DIY class with my friends! Imagine the creativity! A whole group of friends rocking bespoke tutusā¦ what could be more Canadian than that? Itās almost like an homage to our famous, proud Canadian ballerina, Karen Kain, who taught us to dance with style!
By the end of the day, I was feeling tutu-licious and happy to add some new treasures to my growing tutu collection. Here are my top #tututuesday tips for finding amazing tutus:
