Tutu Tuesday in Edwardsburgh/Cardinal, Ontario: A Tutu-tastic Day! #tututuesday

Hey, ballet lovers! It's your girl, Jenna here, and today is a very special day, indeed. It's Tutu Tuesday in Edwardsburgh/Cardinal, Ontario – a small town brimming with charm and character, and just a hop skip and jump from the city of Ottawa where I grew up taking my first ballet classes.

As a professional ballet dancer with a passion for fashion, I absolutely love a good Tutu Tuesday. It’s a day to celebrate the graceful beauty and artistic power of tutus. I love the way a tutu makes me feel – empowered and confident. But there’s much more to tutus than just the iconic ballerina look! Did you know there are so many different kinds of tutus – each with its own unique history and style? It’s a beautiful and exciting dance of creativity through costume design.

Here in Ontario, we have such a rich and diverse dance culture. From classical ballet schools to innovative contemporary dance companies, there's a huge and talented dance community in Canada, with more exciting young dancers growing up and getting involved all the time.

So, back to this Tutu Tuesday event. Here are just some of the reasons I love Edwardsburgh/Cardinal's version of this fantastically festive celebration.

  • It's a chance to dress up! Whether it's a romantic, classical tutu like those we often see in performances of The Nutcracker or Swan Lake, or a more modern contemporary tutu with layered tulle for dramatic impact and elegance, there is a tutu for every personality.
  • Tutu Tuesday helps us all rediscover our inner ballerina! That means there's no judgement or need to be a pro-dancer to join the fun. It’s a day to embrace creativity and channel your inner dance star in the spirit of playful community.
  • It brings the community together in such a fun and uplifting way. There were families, friends, couples, and even a few brave souls who dared to do a spin in their tutus! And it was the best kind of contagious laughter and joy all around. This town was absolutely buzzing. There was even a Tutu-inspired art competition for young budding artists - now, how's that for sparking some local creativity!
  • You don't even need to have a tutu! There was a great mix of tutu outfits with fabulous shoes, jewellery, headbands, colourful makeup, and some serious hair-styling skills. So, you’re still getting the #tututuesday vibes, even without an actual tulle-tastic garment, just by dressing in fun and feminine styles.

Edwardsburgh/Cardinal, a community of warm smiles and happy vibes. It’s a truly special place to experience the pure magic of #tututuesday! They really took Tutu Tuesday to a whole new level and they really embodied what a fun-filled event is all about! I can’t wait to see how the community builds upon it for next year! If you're looking for a fun, uplifting experience in a vibrant town filled with good-hearted people who like to dance, Edwardsburgh/Cardinal's #tututuesday event is one for the calendar. See you next year, Edwardsburgh/Cardinal! #tututuesday
