Tutu Tuesday in Mont-Joli, Quebec: A Celebration of Twirls and Tulle #tututuesday Bonjour, mes amies! It’s your girl, Chloé, back with another edition of my favourite weekly ritual: #tututuesday! This week, I'm whisking you away to the charming city of Mont-Joli, Quebec, a place where the spirit of dance and the allure of tutus come together in a whirlwind of joy. As a Canadian ballerina, my love for the elegance of the tutu is unparalleled. It's more than just a garment; it’s a symbol of artistry, grace, and the captivating power of movement. So, when I decided to explore the captivating province of Quebec for this #tututuesday adventure, I knew that Mont-Joli, a city steeped in culture and history, was the perfect place to unleash my inner ballerina and celebrate the beauty of this iconic garment. A Day Filled With Tutu Magic Mont-Joli welcomed me with open arms and a touch of provincial charm. The city’s picturesque downtown area, lined with colourful buildings, provided the ideal backdrop for my tutu exploration. I kicked off my #tututuesday adventure by visiting the Galerie d'art du Bas-Saint-Laurent, an art gallery that showcases the work of local and regional artists. Ballet in Canada My ballet training began at the tender age of six in Vancouver, and since then, I have performed in numerous recitals and productions across the country. The Canadian dance scene is incredibly diverse, showcasing a beautiful blend of contemporary and traditional styles, and I am incredibly proud to call myself a Canadian ballerina. A Dance Through Mont-Joli My tutu of choice for my day in Mont-Joli was a romantic and flowing tulle masterpiece. It boasted a whimsical lavender hue that perfectly captured the spirit of the city. I floated through the streets, enjoying the soft embrace of the tulle as I pirouetted around charming storefronts and quaint cafes. Every corner offered a photo opportunity worthy of an Instagram moment! Tutu Styles: Romantic and Dramatic Here in Mont-Joli, I saw some of the most exquisite and inventive tutu styles. Some designs were exquisitely delicate, with layers upon layers of soft, gauzy tulle, evoking an ethereal and romantic atmosphere. Other designs were bolder, incorporating structured elements, sparkling sequins, and vibrant colours for a dramatic and contemporary aesthetic. The City's Ballet Heritage I made a point of visiting the Mont-Joli Library and Archives, where I discovered fascinating historical documents and photographs related to the development of ballet in Quebec. It was humbling to see the evolution of this art form in the province and to learn about the dedication of local dance enthusiasts who have shaped the city's vibrant dance community. Tutu Tuesday, A Day to Celebrate #tututuesday isn't just about celebrating tutus, but also about embracing our individuality, embracing our love for dance and finding beauty in unexpected places. From Chic Boutiques to Quirky Cafes I explored the city's hidden gems: independent boutiques offering exquisite vintage treasures, and charming cafes where I sipped on lattes adorned with the cutest latte art! Embracing the Local Flavours One of the highlights of my day was experiencing the deliciousness of Mont-Joli’s local cuisine. From fresh seafood caught locally to artisanal pastries, the city's culinary scene offered a delightful tapestry of flavors. I sampled a traditional Quebec dessert: "Pouding Chômeur," which literally means "unemployed pudding." This dessert was a rich, caramel-like delight. Embracing the Beauty of Mont-Joli The city of Mont-Joli offers so much more than stunning landscapes. Its artistic heart beats strong. The city embraces its heritage while constantly looking toward the future, and I have no doubt that Mont-Joli will continue to enchant those who visit its charming streets. Tutu Inspiration and Reflection Standing on a picturesque bridge over the St. Lawrence River, I allowed my thoughts to drift as I admired the mesmerizing water glistening beneath the setting sun. This breathtaking view ignited my creativity and gave me an abundance of inspiration for new blog posts and future ballet routines. My Farewell to Mont-Joli As I boarded my train, my heart brimmed with gratitude for the magical experience I'd had in Mont-Joli.
