Tutu Tuesday in Windsor, Nova Scotia #tututuesday Oh hey there, fashionistas! It's your girl, Chloe, back at it again with another Tutu Tuesday. Today I'm taking you all the way to Windsor, Nova Scotia, a picturesque town known for its rich history and beautiful beaches (and a few killer tutu shops, if I may say so myself!) This week we're digging into the timeless elegance of the romantic tutu. Let's be honest: the romantic tutu is the epitome of ballet glamour. With its soft layers of tulle, flowing movement, and ethereal feel, it just screams "graceful ballerina." And it’s pretty darn perfect for a day exploring the historic streets of Windsor! Let's talk tulle: Romance and history in Windsor So how did I end up in Windsor, you ask? Well, I was actually invited here by my grandmother, who is quite the history buff! Turns out the town of Windsor was settled back in 1760, a time when tutus were really just getting their start. I mean, can you imagine the looks on the faces of the early settlers as they encountered these frothy pieces of fabric floating through the air? It's like a scene straight out of a fairytale! To get into the spirit of this romantic day in a historical place, I opted for a gorgeous ivory romantic tutu with layers and layers of soft, floaty tulle, and I have to say, it was the perfect fit! The layers swirled around me like a delicate cloud, creating the illusion of a magical, dreamy princess floating through the air! The texture of the tulle really enhanced the entire aesthetic. This dreamy, airy feel that just transports you back in time...I mean, honestly, what’s more romantic than a soft and billowy skirt made out of clouds? The Windsor, Nova Scotia tutu-tastic adventure But let's get back to my Windsor experience! The day was picture perfect! A brilliant blue sky and a fresh breeze whipping my tutu about and making it seem like I was being swept away to a magical ballet world! The layers of tulle flowed with every step, creating a captivating rhythm of movement! I almost had to ask myself - “did I walk into a storybook?” First stop: a stroll down the cobblestone streets of downtown Windsor! You know, those historic buildings with the cute shops and little cafes – absolutely perfect! My tutu had a little dance of its own against the backdrop of these quaint structures. It felt like a fusion of romantic history and modern ballet flare. Next up, I found myself standing in front of the beautiful Old Town Hall. Imagine a beautiful building painted in a soft shade of green with a clock tower reaching for the sky... it's truly captivating. It’s as if the clock tower was telling a story of the years that had gone by in Windsor – stories about settlers, their dances, their everyday lives – all of it folded into the layers of that magnificent building and the gentle flow of my romantic tulle. My favorite place was the Historic Fort Edward, a beautiful fortress dating back to 1750, and a sight that instantly transported me to another time and era. The fortress has a certain charm about it, and as I walked towards it, the tulle from my romantic tutu felt like it was carrying with it a bit of the history and romance that Windsor boasts. It was all so captivating! Fashion advice and styling tips The romantic tutu is more than just a fancy ballet costume; it’s a versatile fashion piece! Here’s my tip on rocking a romantic tutu like a true #tututuesday queen: * ** Embrace your inner ballerina: A simple, soft top will perfectly highlight your tutu.** The layers and softness of your romantic tutu really make a plain white or black tank top pop – a perfect contrast to the flowing layers. And the great thing is, it can be tucked in, tied up or worn loosely! Whatever works best for you. * ** Make it pop: add color with a bright scarf, a blazer or jacket. This allows you to have more freedom with the color and patterns that you want.** It could be a bold yellow or green, and it doesn't have to be the same color as your tutu. For a bolder look, a printed jacket, like a denim or a tropical floral jacket really makes it stand out and create a contrast that’s sure to turn heads. * ** Mix textures: This allows you to create a balanced outfit that is a visual treat! Think lace and denim or a rough knitted sweater paired with the tulle. I chose a black knitted cardigan which played really nicely with the white of my tutu, highlighting the details in both pieces.** You can even layer the sweater and just let the tulle peep through – really adding depth and dimension to the outfit. And don’t forget your trusty accessories – from chic hats and trendy handbags to earrings that will definitely give you that touch of glamour – perfect for stepping out in style! **Canadian Ballet – the ultimate inspiration!** The ballet world has always inspired me. For the #tututuesday #windsornovascotia challenge I thought I would dig into Canada’s amazing ballet heritage, and it did not disappoint. Turns out, Windsor, Nova Scotia is home to several ballet schools and groups like the Nova Scotia Ballet, based in Halifax. It plays a key role in supporting Canadian ballet! I felt so inspired! In fact, Canada has a beautiful history when it comes to ballet. It was in 1930 that the Royal Winnipeg Ballet took its first steps on the scene! I'm all about honoring those early trailblazers who put Canada on the global dance map! The passion and the hard work of these talented ballet dancers truly show what Canada is capable of. We are definitely home to a unique and vibrant dance culture, something that is both inspiring and proud. As I finish up my day in Windsor, I want to thank my grandmother and all the lovely people in the town of Windsor who helped to make this a special experience! If you’re in Windsor, Nova Scotia and want a romantic stroll, maybe with a touch of tulle and ballet flair – this place is definitely worth visiting! The city has so much to offer in terms of history, scenery and charm – a real must-see, if you ask me. As always, thanks for joining me on this week’s Tutu Tuesday adventure. Don't forget to share your own #tututuesday photos, and tell me, what's your favorite way to style your romantic tutu? Let's make every Tuesday a #tututuesday for Canadian dancers – because when it comes to ballet, our story has just begun.
