Tutu Tuesday in Brokenhead, Manitoba: A Ballet Blogger's Delight #tututuesday

Hey there, fellow dance enthusiasts! It's your girl, Claire, back with another instalment of my blog. This week, I'm thrilled to be sharing my #tututuesday adventure from the heart of Manitoba. Now, if you're picturing me pirouetting on the stage of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, you're partly right, but today's story isn't about the big stages of the city - it's about embracing the tutu in the most unexpected of places.

Brokenhead, Manitoba. It's a town with a charm so quaint and unassuming it would make a prairie schooner blush. The folks are friendly, the skies are big, and the local coffee shop smells like homemade pie and nostalgia. But today, Brokenhead was getting a dose of "ballet bling," all thanks to my quest to take #tututuesday global.

Let's talk tulle, eh? It all started with the vision, which wasn't as elaborate as one might expect in the ballet world. It's not every day you find a town that throws a "Welcome Back, Farmers!" festival, you know. And I knew that my tulle outfit needed to reflect the simplicity of the day, something comfortable and playful.

Tutu Style: So, I opted for a **short, gathered tulle skirt in a classic dusty rose** colour, a shade that reminds me of prairie sunsets. Paired with a plain, white T-shirt tucked in for a touch of elegance, and I finished it with some practical white running shoes for maximum comfort on the paved roads of Brokenhead.

Arriving at the festival, my little tulle skirt felt right at home amongst the charming booths offering handmade crafts and fresh-baked goods. People were stopping me every few minutes, with smiles as bright as the sun. Turns out, I had ignited a curious conversation:

"Oh honey, where did you get that pretty skirt?"

"I made it myself. We're having a Tutu Tuesday, eh!"

And just like that, the tulle was sparking chats, not just with women but men too. Turns out, everyone has an opinion on tulle โ€“ especially when itโ€™s unexpected! And trust me, seeing a full-grown man squirm while describing his "unfortunate" tulle experience with his daughters was pure comedic gold.

It was heartening to see this small-town community embrace the tulle trend, even without a local ballet studio or professional dancer in sight. My trip to Brokenhead showed me that ballet in Canada goes beyond the spotlights of a city; itโ€™s the twirling on a windy afternoon, itโ€™s the playful joy in an impromptu tulle dance. And maybe, just maybe, #tututuesday helped spread that joy to a new corner of Canada.

So, for anyone feeling hesitant to don a tutu, remember: you never know where it might lead you. Break the rules, take #tututuesday out of the studio, and embrace the unexpected. Maybe you'll find yourself the unexpected highlight of a festival in Brokenhead, or a cozy cafe in a sleepy town. Whatever the case, embrace your inner ballerina โ€“ we are all ballerinas at heart!
