Tutu Tuesday in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec: A Tutu-tastic Celebration of Dance

Hey everyone! It’s your friendly neighbourhood ballerina and style blogger, Sophie, back with another post about the most exciting day of the week (well, besides Saturday, obviously!) - Tutu Tuesday!

I'm in the beautiful town of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec, today and it's all about tutus! Whether you're a seasoned dancer like me, a curious onlooker, or just someone who appreciates a little twirl in their life, Tutu Tuesday is a time for everyone to embrace the magic of dance.

For those unfamiliar with this delightful tradition, Tutu Tuesday is a day where dance enthusiasts (like yours truly!) rock their favourite tutu in honour of ballet. The streets, parks, and cafes of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue become a vibrant tapestry of colourful tutus, bringing joy and smiles to everyone's faces. There are so many unique styles, from the classic romantic tutus to the modern and contemporary styles – it's an inspiring kaleidoscope of artistry! I think a big part of the appeal is that it reminds us that anyone can dance.

Today I'm wearing a soft, airy white romantic tutu with delicate lace trim. It's just the right kind of flowy to spin in and is so comfy for all-day wear – I plan to wear it everywhere I go in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, which happens to be quite a lot, today. My inspiration for the look is a scene from The Sleeping Beauty – you know, the ballet – where Aurora twirls effortlessly in a light, beautiful white tutu that reflects the magical fairytale she’s caught in! The intricate lace details are reminiscent of a blossoming garden – I love those fairytale details in ballet!

There's something truly special about putting on a tutu and feeling that transformative energy. The second I do, I can’t help but channel my inner ballerina and take a leap, spin, and feel a connection with the stage. It's a feeling that's hard to describe, but it's one that I know many dancers around the world can relate to. So I decided to create a #TutuTuesday guide of my favourite spots in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue for Tutu Tuesday:

Top Spots to Rock Your Tutu in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue

  • The Waterfront Park: There’s just something about that amazing water view with lush green foliage, perfect for photo ops with your tutu, and I can practically see the twinkle lights and hear the music that will undoubtedly come out during the evening. Plus, I bet you’d catch a fantastic sunset over Lake St. Louis – the perfect backdrop for a dance party with your tutu buddies.
  • The Ste. Anne de Bellevue Library: If you’re feeling inspired to learn about dance, check out the library. You’ll be happy to hear that Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue Library hosts dance performances as part of its Community Outreach, and the branch’s archives will tell you all about the amazing world of dance in our community.
  • The Lacroix House: Lacroix House was a favourite haunt for artists throughout the history of our region. I find inspiration just being here! The garden makes an amazing venue to photograph your tutu or strike your favourite pose. Take a selfie with a vibrant purple clematis growing on the wall and let everyone on your social media feed know you are in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec, enjoying #tututuesday!
  • The John Abbott College: For the ballet enthusiasts who also have an inner cheerleader, it’s impossible to not be impressed by the amazing sports fields and recreational opportunities in the campus. I might wear my ‘contemporary-style’ black tutu, which comes complete with a cute layered skirt design (so it doesn't feel as dressy but still totally ballet) – perfect for hitting some dance moves. Or perhaps take in some sunshine as I admire the beautiful greenery while enjoying my #tututuesday here at John Abbott College.
  • The Restaurant “La Table du Marché: No day is complete without enjoying a delightful lunch. La Table du Marché serves fantastic traditional Québécois cuisine in a historic house – its exposed stone wall and beams will make the setting for a great tutu photoshoot, and trust me, you’ll want to take pictures in this charming setting. Just be sure to ask permission first!

Today in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, it's all about sharing the joy of dance with the world. Tutu Tuesday is about reminding us that ballet, while a discipline with deep history, can also be an incredible outlet for creativity and personal expression – and in today’s hectic world, the fun and magic of tutus is just what the doctor ordered. Don't be afraid to embrace the magic and the sheer delight of twirling your way into the day! If you're feeling extra ambitious, put together a choreography or have a dance party!

So remember, Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue is calling! Get out there, flaunt those tutus, and share the joy of Tutu Tuesday. And don’t forget to take some snaps and share them with me.
