Tutu Tuesday in Saint-Cyrille-de-Wendover, Quebec: A Whirlwind of Tulle and Traditions

Hey everyone! It's your girl, Chloe here, back with another dose of fashion-forward ballet fun! This week, I decided to take #tututuesday on the road, and where better to spread the tutu love than right here in my home province of Quebec. I headed over to the charming town of Saint-Cyrille-de-Wendover, known for its stunning countryside scenery and quaint charm, ready to embrace the day in all its tutu glory!

Now, Saint-Cyrille-de-Wendover may not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of ballet, but trust me, the tutu spirit is alive and well here! The town itself is a true gem – picturesque streets, a beautiful church, and a strong sense of community. And what better way to blend tradition with fashion than by wearing a tutu? As I strutted through town, I felt a sense of connection to the history and heritage of Quebec. My choice of tutu for the day? A classic romantic, with soft layers of tulle cascading down, a true ode to the elegance of classical ballet.

My adventure in Saint-Cyrille-de-Wendover kicked off with a delightful visit to the local bakery. They were serving up fresh croissants and maple tarts, a perfect start to a #tututuesday adventure. Then, I took a leisurely walk through the heart of town, soaking in the beauty of the architecture and charming boutiques. I even stopped by a local antique shop and found the most adorable pair of ballet shoes, which are totally gonna be my new "going out" shoes.

The Tutus Took Centre Stage

Later that afternoon, I joined a local community group that's been doing some pretty cool things in town. They’re promoting a vibrant arts scene in Saint-Cyrille-de-Wendover, and I was invited to lead a fun little ballet class, Tutu Tuesday style! Imagine 20 enthusiastic kids, from all ages, decked out in their own versions of the tutu, from DIY versions made out of leftover fabric to adorable mini-tutus for the toddlers, even a couple of grandmas rocking grandma-chic tutus!

We did some basic steps, danced to a few classic tunes, and had a whole lot of laughs. It was absolutely inspiring to see these kids – who have limited access to ballet lessons here in town - embrace their creativity and have so much fun! That's what I love about tutus – they make anyone feel like a ballerina, no matter your experience.

My favourite tutu moment? One of the younger girls had been hesitant at first but slowly opened up, then she started smiling and really letting loose. It was a moment that reminded me of my own journey as a young dancer – the magic that happens when you put on a tutu, lose your inhibitions, and let your imagination fly!

Beyond Ballet and Beyond Tutus

But it wasn't just about tutus – I also spent some time reflecting on the role of dance and arts in communities. Ballet is about so much more than graceful movements and fancy steps; it’s about expressing yourself, pushing your boundaries, and connecting with something bigger than yourself. Here in Saint-Cyrille-de-Wendover, this sense of community and creativity felt very real. The people were welcoming, the environment was inspiring, and I realized that ballet doesn’t always need to be confined to the big cities.

So, if you’re looking to explore a new corner of Canada or find some inspiration, consider taking a trip to Saint-Cyrille-de-Wendover! Who knows, you might even be inspired to wear a tutu yourself! Don't forget to tag your #tututuesday photos!

And remember:

  • Tutus can be anything – short, long, romantic, playful, classic or modern.
  • There’s a tutu out there for everyone!
  • If you want to try out #tututuesday yourself, don’t be afraid to go out in your tutu!

Until next time, stay fabulous, my friends, and let your inner ballerina shine!

Yours in Tulle and Toque,

Chloe
