Tutu Tuesday in Lorette, Manitoba: #tututuesday Hey everyone! It's your girl, Chloe, back with another blog post, this time straight from the heart of Manitoba, my home province. I know what you're thinking: "Manitoba? What could possibly be fashionable there?" But trust me, fashionistas, you'd be surprised! Today we're diving deep into a fashion trend that's taking Lorette, Manitoba by storm: #tututuesday! For those of you who don't know, #tututuesday is a fun social media trend where people wear tutus, often with a whimsical twist, on Tuesdays. It's all about celebrating dance, self-expression, and of course, a bit of tutu-rific fun! Now, I know what you're thinking: "But Chloe, isn't a tutu just for ballet?" And yes, tutus definitely have a rich history in the world of ballet. In fact, Canada has a vibrant and diverse ballet scene! From the legendary National Ballet of Canada to the exciting dance companies like Ballet Jörgen and Ballet BC, we have talented choreographers and dancers making waves across the country. But in this #tututuesday frenzy, tutus are escaping the stage and infiltrating everyday life, and Lorette, Manitoba is at the heart of it all! So, why is #tututuesday so big here in Lorette? It all started with a little spark of inspiration from a local elementary school teacher, Mrs. Dubois. She wanted to find a fun way to get her students excited about creative self-expression and decided to dedicate Tuesdays to "Tutu Tuesdays," encouraging them to bring a little whimsy to their school days. And wouldn't you know it, the trend caught on like wildfire, spreading throughout the community. The thing about #tututuesday in Lorette is that it's not just about wearing a tutu – it's about expressing yourself in a unique and confident way. It's a chance to unleash your inner ballerina and let your personality shine! And it’s not about perfectly executed ballet moves; it’s all about having fun! In Lorette, the #tututuesday outfits are a beautiful and inspiring mix of styles. I saw a group of teenagers rocking the classic romantic tutu look, swirling around the town square in ethereal tulle tutus, all blush tones and flowy silhouettes, with whimsical accessories like pearl necklaces and ribbons. It’s as if they’re walking out of a classical ballet performance straight onto the sidewalk! I was completely enamored with the delicate layers and gracefulness of these ensembles. Then there was a group of ladies who went for a more sassy look with layered, bold-colored, funky tutus, think a modern version of a “The Jets” dancer, and were even rocking some platform shoes. The contrasting textures, materials and silhouettes with bold colors like bright red and cobalt blue gave their ensembles an undeniably stylish and trendy vibe. And the men aren't holding back either! I spotted a couple of dads rocking their own versions of tutus, complete with bright coloured socks and playful patterned t-shirts. They were radiating fun energy as they picked up their kids from school! I mean, let's face it: who doesn't love a guy with a good sense of humour and some awesome tutu fashion choices? There was a little boy walking with his father in an adorable custom tutu outfit with his name and age printed on it – it’s amazing what the entrepreneurial spirit can inspire. For those wanting a touch of elegance but without the full commitment, I witnessed a few Lorette ladies who wore tutus as overlays. Their fashion choice looked completely in line with current fashion trends. A classic leather jacket or trench coat over a simple knee-length tulle skirt gave their ensembles an edge without feeling too out of place. And don't get me started on the incredible variety of tutus that were on display. We've got the classic tulle, of course, but there are also tutu skirts crafted from everything from felt and denim to sequins and silk. One young girl had a tutu crafted entirely out of woven wheat stalks - now that’s sustainable fashion! The possibilities are endless, it seems! Here’s a fun fact I discovered: apparently, there's a whole online community of "Tutuholics" – you guessed it! It's dedicated to all things tutu! The online community is dedicated to sharing fashion inspiration, DIY tutorials, and even tips for making your own tutus, giving you plenty of tutu ideas. Here in Lorette, I even met with the talented woman behind “The Tutu Fairy,” a local businesswoman who has found her niche making customized tutus and costumes for all occasions – for the dance studio, the local theatre troupe and even birthday parties! It's clear that #tututuesday is not just a social media trend, it's a passion for fashion and self-expression. For me, the real heart of #tututuesday is the joy and sense of community it brings to Lorette. Everyone in Lorette is joining in the fun. It's a reminder that we can express ourselves in our unique way without taking things too seriously and enjoy a moment of spontaneous joy. Who knows, maybe one day we'll even see a “Tutu Festival” taking place in Lorette! Imagine all the fabulous tutus, dance, laughter, and great times - talk about a dream scenario! So, here's to #tututuesday, a trend that's spreading joy, fashion and dance in Lorette, Manitoba! Keep up the awesome work, Lorette, you’re setting the tutu-rific example for all of Canada! Let me know in the comments what you think of this amazing #tututuesday trend, or even better, send me some pictures of your own tutu ensembles!
